Hey guys,

*stands up* My name is Ben and I am addicted to AF X-Wings. There I said it!

I now have 5 overall, 2 of the newest Red 5's, an orginal Red 5 and 2 Red 2's(one battle damaged). It seems I also have a need to get as many pilots and R2's as well.

Anyone else out like me?

If anyone has any figures or maybe a Red 3 or 6 that they don't need let me know : )

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben!

I have a few as well, the original first Red 5, the battle damaged one that came with the Yavin playset, the Red 5 that comes with the flight handle, the one with the Series Alpha, the ToyFare Magazine-exclusive Dagobah swampy X-wing, the Hasbro 2002 repaint, and the Ultra Titanium Series they made from the AF design. I don't have any extra figures though, unfortunately, just the ones that came with them (the Hasbro ones didn't come with figures at all). I didn't realize I had collected so many over the years!

Hey!

Nice little collection you've got there. I wasn't happy that the Hasbro X's didn't have figures included, even less so when I figured the R2 was glued in!

Any idea if they can be taken out?

I've actually ran out of room for them, the 3 Y-Wings I've got will be relegated to the box soon!

I haven't tried to take them out, but I wouldn't suspect so, the floor underneath is a thin wall and probably couldn't take the abuse.

Right now, my whole collection is packed away, I still need to figure out how I want to display all my AF and Micro Machines.

Maybe I won't try then!

The rest of my AF collection is boxed up, any other space I have is taken up by MR saber hilts.

Is it worth putting a request on these boards for AF figures you think? Currently I've got 10 pilots and 6 R2 units but I'd like some more to make my little Yavin Base diorama a bit busier. Some A-Wing pilots would be awesome.

Thinking of getting some fishing line to hang one of them up above the rest to make it look like it's just taking off too : )

I'm so late to this party it's ridiculous!

You might want to get the silver X-Wing version from the Galactic Battle too

Silver X-Wing? As in it's completely silver? That wouldn't interest me but thanks for pointing it out : )

I'm guessing that not many people frequent this section anymore but if anyone can help get hold of some more figures that would be fantastic.

I still haven't unpacked my stuff from last year's move, but saber replicas are such a joy to display (all of mine are Force FX, I plan on displaying vertically so hopefully that won't affect my AF.

It's worth a shot though.

Thinking of getting some fishing line to hang one of them up above the rest to make it look like it's just taking off too : )Nice! I like that, I'm not a big fan of hanging vehicle toys or models, but that'd be subtle and make a good statement with the others still on the ground.

I'm so late to this party it's ridiculous!Action Fleet and Micro Machines SW are timeless, I've been in the game since late '93. The line fills a niche in SW collecting that no other does - Hasbro claims there isn't a market these days, but I think it's the way they are marketing them.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for that stuff, it crops up at conventions every now and then.

I've got a couple FX's but my pride and joy is an Obi Wan Ep2 Hilt, it's gorgeous. I've got an Obi Wan Ep4 as well as a Luke Ep5.

Me neither but I have to think of keeping all the X's in a limited space and fishing line is my best bet I think.

I started buying AF's when they were first released so I was 9/10 years old(had good taste even then!). Alot of my collection I've had since then. As I've mentioned all I'm really interested in now is getting more X's and the pilots/R2's along with some random figures to mix it up. Hasbro are talking rubbish there would be a huge market I'm sure.

Now I've seen the pic I remember them, was never interested as they wouldn't fit in with the rest of my stuff!

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for that stuff, it crops up at conventions every now and then.

That would be great thanks man : )

It's probably a good thing for your wallet that you aren't too interested in the Galactic Battle silver X-Wing, as it would cost a very pretty penny.

Anyways, these are the versions of the X-wing released to mass retail at one point or another:

The original Luke's X-wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=5)
Rebel Flight Controller X-Wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=119)
Wedge's Red 2 X-Wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=16)
Porkin's Red 6 X-Wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=17)
Classic Duels X-Wing (Luke's Red 5) (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=122)
Luke's X-Wing from Dagobah (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=45)
Luke's X-Wing (Hasbro Release) (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=veh&item=69)
Series Alpha Red 3 X-Wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=sal&item=110)
Battle Damaged Rebel Base X-Wing (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=pls&item=54)
Ultra Titanium Series Red 5 (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=titan&type=ult&item=88)
Ultra Titanium Series Red 3 (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=titan&type=ult&item=117)

These are only the ones released in Action Fleet scale (Not including the Japanese Galactic Battle version, which I haven't been able to convince myself to mortgage my house to buy yet). There were many, many more released in Micro Machines and Titanium scale that are interesting on their own merit.

Thanks for the list appreciate it : )

I didn't even know that there were AF scale X's released in the Titanium line(I never collected Titaniums) so that's a surprise. There paint schemes don't look like they'd fit in nicely with the Yavin vibe I'm going for though.

Going from this list I only have 4 variations, as I mentioned before the two I really want are Red 3 and Red 6.

Would I be right in saying that the best way to get more pilots is to seek out cheap snowspeeders?

That's one way, the original Snowspeeder comes with 2 orange suited pilots, but the second snowspeeder comes with two grey/white suited pilots, so be careful when you buy them. Another option is Battle Pack #18 - Rebel Troops (http://www.miniempire.ca/index.php?page=detail&cat=fleet&type=btl&item=100) as it comes with 2 pilot figures as well. I haven't priced these on eBay recently, so I don't know which would be more cost effective, but there is of course the option of buying uncarded figures separately as well.

I wouldn't mind different colour pilots to be honest, the battle pack is a good shout too.

I assume eBay is my best friend here?

Hey Ben, nice to see someone is carrying the torch...

As JT said, we were once a hub for commerce/xchange/gifts and the old Galoob BBS was a great site where one in a while we able to obtain AF test shots or other SW memorabilia in Galoob-run competitions.

Reading your post has taken me back to 96-2000 which was the height of my AF collection period. I am ashamed to say I can't count how many AF X-wings I collected as I was all about fleet-building then. I have 7 Y-wings (gold, blue and red) and I think I have around 12 X-wings. I only got 3 A's and 1 B-wing....<mouth and eye doing Sheldon Cooper twitching at the mention of the B-wing :jaded: >

I think your idea to hang them would be nice to see. make sure you post some pics! I still lurk here but just rarely post. It's more a case of keeping up with the family now as opposed to collecting (I stopped when Hasbro did what they did). I would like to have got onto all the Battlestar titaniums but I just never got to see them here and now have to be careful with funds.

What would be nice is your idea to have them on very long lines so that they look like they're taking off. I've not seen a diorama like that before.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Thanks Jeddah : )

You don't even know how many X's you've got?! You're my hero!

Well I have 5 X's, 3 Y's(all yellow, one with the taller cockpit), 1 A and 1 B. What's the problem with the B's? It does irk me a bit that they are out of scale but I don't display the A and B, just thankful that Galoob did such a great job with the X's.

I'll try to get some pics on here when I get home : D

Maybe I'll give it a go on one of them then, any idea on how to tackle it?If you're trying to salvage the R2, maybe goo-gone or a similar product, or maybe disassemble and use a heat gun. Otherwise I'd treat it like a loose tooth, wiggle and feel for a cracking.

I've got a couple FX's but my pride and joy is an Obi Wan Ep2 Hilt, it's gorgeous. I've got an Obi Wan Ep4 as well as a Luke Ep5.Right on! I don't have any of the licensed hilt replicas, too expensive for me to pull the trigger on. I have a custom-built Luke Ep 6 though which I adore, and had contracted to build the Ep 1 Obi-Wan hilt based off Rubie's non-US role play saber, but the sample got lost.

Me neither but I have to think of keeping all the X's in a limited space and fishing line is my best bet I think.

Hasbro are talking rubbish there would be a huge market I'm sure.I think Hasbro's afraid to take the chance, to build the market. They're so sure that kids are into gimmick toys like Bakugan that they don't have room in their hearts for anything else, but AF was awesome - probably they couldn't keep the pricepoint close enough anymore though. I still remember the day that Hasbro buying Galoob thing happened, I was so livid and knew they'd pull this. I actually called Jim Fong, the AF brand manager for Galoob (later Hasbro San Francisco) and did an interview for this site about it, something that was well outside of my skillset at the time. It seems like something like AF needs a visionary to keep it going at market.

Ben, if you're going to hang your ships, I strongly advise you NOT to do what I did years ago by putting tiny hooks into them to hang them from. Luckily, I stopped long before I got the really expensive AFs but I did manage to ruin a bunch by leaving holes in their hulls. Live and learn...

Fortunately it never occurred to me to do that, I'll just loop round fishing line where the engines meet the hull : )

I love Action Fleet, I own it all (yes, all, every variation, even the JCP AT-AT, and definitely all X-Wings), and it is proudly displayed in a custom made display cabinet in my living room. I am pretty sure I have some extra X-Wings sitting around new in box waiting for a new home. The boxes are not in mint shape (never were) but the contents are. I also own an extra ZAAP exclusive (the pewter X-Wing, DV Tie pack that was talked about in this thread), and be willing to let that go (I did pay quite a bit for it back then, so it won't be cheap)
