Wow, another one, but it's one I'll pass on, I find in that photo the helmet design creepy and somewhat bizarrely inaccurate (the overall size, the width of the lower helmet to the top, the "mouth" angle).

I want a galactic marine.

Neyo is No-Go for me.

He looks cool, but I don't need him. They don't even make a 12" Stass Allie or Adi Gallia - and if they do, I'd put her with my other Jedi Council figures.

I'm making the 12" ROTS Jedi Council (minus Obi-Wan and Anakin who are in a bunch of my other 12" scenes so I had to buy multipes of them already).

But I have:

Yoda
Mace
Ki-Adi Mundi
Plo Koon
Shaak-Ti
Kit Fisto

and I want

Agen Kolar / Eeth Koth
SaeSee Tiin
Stass Allie / Adi Gallia
Pablo Jill

That's 12 if you pretend our heroes are there, too.

But I don't need Neyo, as he is what this thread is about.

I am wrestling with buying the Airborne Trooper. He is on my list, but I think I can make due without him.

I will definitely buy the Galactic Marine to go with Ki-Adi Mundi and Cmdr. Bacara. (I have 2 Ki-Adi Mundis, so one will remain in the Jedi Council scene.)

I sort of like the Marine design, but I don't know if I could buy that figure if it came out BEFORE a Snowtrooper, it'd feel disloyal. So it's on my list, but conditionally.

BTW, this article's comments section is also the Cmdr Neyo forums thread, they are one in the same.

And at last we have the final ROTS "on screen" Clone Commander offered from Sideshow...this may be the first "series" of something Sideshow has "finished" in the 1:6 scale line and that's kinda cool. They should make quite the killer display when assembled...

I'm seeing a lot of comments around the net about Neyo's helmet....it does look rather "off"...my first thought was "kinda Hasbro" looking....oversized so it can slip over a head sculpt. I hope I'm wrong there...that would be a big step back. I'd prefer separate portraits if indeed Sideshow is going to offer one with this release (the helmet-free head portrait is noticeably absent from the forthcoming Bacara).

It will be interesting if Sideshow adjusts the helmet sculpt any...any changes obviously won't happen before we see the gallery of pictures next week but....maybe by SDCC ( I can't imagine this figure out before then unless it's already through production).

I know I'm dreaming here, but it would be nice if this one wasn't as much as Bacara...the only significant changes here from a base clone are the shoulder pauldrons, the straps and the helmet. He doesn't feature the extensive overhaul and unique parts that a release like Cody or Gree did. But again....I know I'm dreaming here...if anything, Neyo will probably be MORE than Bacara.

That's interesting, I hadn't realized they will have finished the on-screen commanders. You're right, that's the first series of any type that they would have completed, had they actually treated them as an official series it would have been even cooler but still a nifty milestone.

I can't imagine Sideshow going with removable helmets after all this time avoiding that, it'd be a shocker. You could be right though, the best way to gauge helmet size accuracy IMO is to measure it against the chest armor's shoulder connections, in this case Hasbro's Neyo helmet flares to just outside those armor points where it should stop just inside them, and it looks like Sideshow's will be the same.

Ironically, Hasbro's Neyo helmet was so wide not because it was removable, but because they were still using that awful giant ball joint under the helmet.

The mouth bothers me as much as the odd shape of the helmet. Both technically could be caused by photography issues though, so I would wait and see before making final decision.

You make a good point on price, Neyo is a simple design and shouldn't be priced so high. I didn't realize Bacara had no portrait, that's surprising to hear.

I thought Appo and Thire (501st comm and shock comm) were on screen as well. Albeit briefly like so many of the Cantina aliens.

So the full gallery of pics and the details are up at the Sideshow site...good group of shots, especially those last two featuring the Commanders (and Capt. Rex) grouped together....confirms my hope that these figures will make for a great display. Neyo's helmet-size issues don't look so off-putting in those group shots either...it's just the unique design of the helmet makes it seem larger. I need to find more "source" images to be sure, but I'm PO'ing him tomorrow. Sideshow's got me hooked on the idea of completing a set with these Commanders so...here I go... :)

Still wish the price wasn't so steep, especially with no "un-helmeted" clone sculpt included. I noticed a few tweaks to the basic body armor, and the deco/weathering is a bit restrained compared to Bly, Cody or Gree. Wonder if we'll see a 1:6 scale BARC speeder sometime in the future? Don't know if I'd be interested, but it would help Neyo stand out on display.

Yes, you're right. But both Appo and Thire don't feature any unique augmentation to their armor or appearance like these five have. It sure would be cool for Sideshow to release these two additional commanders though as a great way to "troop build" (with the 501st) and update (with the Shock Trooper - getting a fabric body glove)...

and the rest of the Sideshow pics still have Jay Leno-factor, a big fat lower face, and a wrong-shaped mouth.

While they did give Neyo a different back armor sculpt, there really isn't enough there to explain how this figure is $135 without an alternate helmet or a portrait head or a jetpack or SOMETHING substantially new beyond the helmet and back plate. He's still gonna have the same mediocre-sculpted weapons, the same hands and feet, and the same overall body as any regular trooper. This feels like gouging simply because he's a Commander, and I'm not going to bother getting him under any realistic circumstance.

Thanks for posting that link, JT....

Hmmmmm....looking at that does beg the question, where/what did Sideshow base their work on Neyo (especially the helmet) on? Their take on it is definitely different from that image file...

Note that even Hasbro's card art doesn't agree with their figure's sculpt, and yet Sideshow's looks very similar to the Hasbro figure.
