View Full Version : Now that Jocasta Nu was made, what obscure character do you want to see made most?

Since the Cantina Bartender (Wuher), there's been a long-standing tradition for old school fans of the action figure collecting hobby to petititon or otherwise call for (vote for in fans' choice polls) the figures we're otherwise not likely to see.

Who would you want to see made the most next?

Here are some ideas:

Tzzvvzzt (cantina fly creature)
Ranat (cantina rat creature)
new elder Uncle Owen
Han Ceremony (correct shirt)
Moisture Farmer
Tonnika Sister (wasted vote though - Hasbro's not authorized)

Torryn Farr
Cloud City female citizen
Bespin Guard (mustache like the vintage)
Wedge Snowspeeder Pilot
Hobbie Snowspeeder Pilot (his comic 2-pack was X-wing version)

Cane Adiss
Warok carded
Tayn dren Garen
Sgt. Doayllyn (skiff)
Darth Vader funeral pyre

Tey How
Handmaiden (purple robes)
Handmaiden (yellow throne room robes)
Pilot Battle Droid (carded)
Gungan female w. child
Kitster & Wald
Ann / Tan Gella
Wan Sandage (podracer)
Bolls Rhor (podracer)
Elan Mak (pod racer)
Ark "Bumpy" Roos (podracer)
Aldar Beedo (podracer)
Onacanda Farr (Senator)
E.T. (Senator - wasted vote though)
Ithorian Senator

Nyrat Agira (thong clad bar girl in Outlander)
Hermione Bagwa (Dexter's waitress with the garter)
Buffon Tire (Outlander bartender)
Clone Kid 2-pack
Kaminoan clone lab worker
female Weequay pirate (Outlander)
Tiikes (Quarren Separatist Senator)
Rogwa Woodrata (big furry Separatist)
Shmi Skywalker (Tusken Prisoner)
Cliegg Lars
Padme Lars' garage
Padme yellow dress (Naboo waterfalls)
Padme balcony (nightgown, blue soft goods robe, kohouns for the Coruscant attack scene)
Padme Senator (Palpatine's office, her apartment and the first meeting with the Jedi)
Padme backless dress (first kiss, Naboo balcony)
Padme deleted scene (her parents' dinner table, her bedroom with Anakin)
Articulated Depa Billaba
Articulated Even Piel
JarJar (Padme's apartment)

Luxury Droid
Padme hair in buns
Padme dark dress (ruminations scene)
Padme blue dress (balcony with C-3PO)
Padme birth of Luke and Leia
Padme silver Senate "birth of the Empire" attire
Padme head piece (scene with Anakin, "Hold me.")
Padme funeral scene
Bail Organa Senator (silver chest armor, "birth of the Empire scene.")
Bail Organa speeder pilot (escape Jedi Temple)
fat Polis Masan
fat Pau'n
Sio Bibble (ROTS)
Ruwee Naberrie (Padme's dad)
Jobal Naberrie (Padme's mom)
Sola Naberrie (Padme's sister)
baby delivery droid 1
baby delivery droid 2
FX-6 (I think they made this figure. I'm not sure. It's similar to FX-7 and helped build Darth Vader)
Drall Sindig (whatever his same is - the Jedi sword master played by the film's stunt coordinator seen in hologram)
Palpatine with varying hood color (from Yoda duel)
Palpatine from "birth of the Empire speech" without action features
Lizard alien from Palpatine's opera box
Twilek in white dress from Opera
Mon Calamari dancer(s) - this would have to be 2 figures at least, in varying skin colors
new Wookiee Warrior (different sculpt and fur color from previous releases)

Expanded Universe:

You can vote for 1 figure from all of these, so if you're is an EU choice, you're the one who best knows who they are.

Nomi Sunrider
Zayne Carrick
Riff Tamsen (CW animated)
Jedi Corran Horn
Anakin Solo
new Yuuzhan Vong
Darth Caedus
Emperor Roan Fel

Above are many obvious choices, but you can pick your own.

But choose one rare, obscure figure for "the next Jocasta Nu." (A figure most unlikely to ever get made without a lot of fan support.)

Jaxxon. :)

I agree with Chux, it has to be a really out there character (but one I actually wouldn't mind parting with money to get) so Jaxxon gets my vote.

fat Pau'n

I think you mean the fat Utai (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Utai).... Pau'ans (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pau%27an) are the tall, thin beings with scary teeth.

There are several obscure characters I would really like to see get made (and tbh, any previously unmade character is going to be pretty obscure by now!), including Onaconda Farr, Sim Aloo, Wald, Weazel, Tikkes, Sasha Tiel (can't believe we still have no Ishi Tib from Jabba's Palace!), and any of the remaining Cantina patrons. But if I could just ask for one figure, it would have to be the fat Utai. I've wanted him since the first time I saw ROTS, and was teased by seeing a glimpse of one at comic con a couple of years ago - so we know they've scuplted him, but still not released him, which makes me want him even more!

We'll see Tey How eventually, Hasbro's said she's the next Neimoidian that they want to make.

I see them making most of those figures eventually.

I still want Cliegg Lars. My collection will soon have a new obscure elderly AOTC character, and it needs at least that one more. :p

They're making good headway with the skiff guards, and are very close to completing the onscreen Rebel pilots, and I'd like to see them complete both of these sets within the next few years.

The first two waves of next year's Legacy Collection have a pretty good mix of secondary characters, even though we've seen them all before. Hopefully there will still be room in the line for these collector-focused characters - especially unmade ones - going forward.

Nyrat Agira Yeah, I want her more than any other figure right now.

Any ROTJ figures, I am on the same team as BigBarada. ROTJ is about all I collect now with
the exception of some other cool figures that see the light of day.

I'd support a Jaxxon/Zeltron (or specifically, Dani) 2-pack.

Since when is Uncle Owen "obscure"?

08-19-2012, 07:35 AM
Uncle Owen (elder, ANH) might be obscure to kids growing up with the prequels.

He is not any more an "action figure" than would be Queen Jamilla. Owen might have had a few more lines.

Neither are "obscure" in my wants as a diorama builder (though I have and can hold with multiples I have of the 1998 Uncle Owen from the Cinema Scene - though I'm sure an improved, single-carded figure is on the minds of OT collectors).

But I think that:

1) I want characters like these badly to complete groups of characters from particular settings (Theed Throne Room in AOTC - we just got the VC Senator / Refugee Padme, Peasant Disguise Anakin, Naboo Guard, and R2D2 - so that leaves Jamilla and possibly an elder Sio Bibble who has a figure from TPM already, and is more obscure and particular than either Owen or Jamilla).

2) carded Jamilla or ANH Owen could linger like Yarna dal Gargon was supposed to have (but didn't in my area). But while Anakin and Obi-Wan are always on the pegs, I'm not sure how many times a week or month new cases of Anakin and Obi-Wan need to be refreshed. If the main characters are selling, there could be room for single figure slots like Owen or Jamilla - and more obscure ones like Elder Sio Bibble (AOTC or ROTS) and / or Nyrat Agira.

Seriously, I would make totally freshly tooled screen packs of never-before-offered characters without repeats / repacks and offer them at a higher price point - like say as a group from the Mos Eisley Cantina or Padme's funeral scene (the Naberries and elder Sio Bibble and Queen Appaliena).

Jocasta Nu costs a fortune for a 3 3/4" but it's not "un-doable" as I'm ordering 2 of her.

Owen and Queen Jamilla might sell that way, too.

Now I do want Nyrat Agira, but she won't sell as a $24 online store exclusive either.

You need a Club Outlander pack of figures - never offered (and not with Elan Sleezebaggano re-released, especially not with another Obi-Wan!)

Make a 5-pack and offer it for $75 or $15 per figure - or maybe more if really necessary for all new tooling of never-offered-figures.

But if someone's paying $75 or more, they don't want that to include a 5th of it being a $15+ Obi-Wan Kenobi they can get in the store any time they feel like it.

Let's see, action figures that are so obscure that they would likely never see the light of day outside of online exclusives?

Animated-style Ewok figures from the cartoon. They could do a few different multipacks:
Multipack 1: Wicket, Kneesaa, Latara, Teebo, and King Gorneesh
Multipack 2: Logray, Chief Chirpa, Paploo, Weechee, and a Dulok
Multipack 3: Chukha-Trok, Kaink, Asha, Wiley, and Morag the Witch

Also, on the "When Hell Freezes Over" list would be animated-style figures from the Droids cartoon.
1. Jann Tosh
2. Kez Iban
3. Uncle Gundy
4. Thall Joben
5. Jord Dusat
6. Kea Moll
7. Admiral Screed
8. Kleb-Zellock
9. Governor Koong
10. Vlix

Heck, the Droids figures are just as unlikely even in a realistic style.

Uncle Owen (elder, ANH) might be obscure to kids growing up with the prequels.

Most kids probably know how to operate a DVD player better than their parents. So it's not like kids today have no access to the OT. In fact, with DVDs, Blu-Rays, iPods, iPads, smartphones and YouTube, kids today have way more access to the original Star Wars films than most of us did growing up.

In short, I'm sure most kids who care about Star Wars know exactly who Uncle Owen is.

Uncle Owen (elder, ANH) might be obscure to kids growing up with the prequels.

He is not any more an "action figure" than would be Queen Jamilla. Owen might have had a few more lines. This argument makes no sense, if they've seen ANH then they've seen Uncle Owen - he has the most lines in the first half hour of the film. And just because he's not an action character doesn't automatically make him obscure.

08-20-2012, 05:13 AM
And just because he's not an action character doesn't automatically make him obscure.

It's funny hearing you say this since I don't think you clamored for Captain Antilles or the Cantina Bartender, Tagge or Motti, etc. amongst other "non-main-cast-OT-characters" who were sort of plain humans.

Tarkin was also once labeled an "old man figure," so therefore I think ANH Owen qualifies.

Now I'm TOTALLY IN FAVOR of these figures being offered. General Dodonna, too. And how about Willard?

So I'm actually not trying to argue (but probably sounding like it).

08-21-2012, 02:14 PM
I don't understand your point. Do you not know what the word "obscure" means? Captain Antilles is obscure, he has 1 line in his 1 scene, and his 1 line deals with nothing of importance; Owen has the most lines of just about anybody in the first act of Star Wars and sets up just about everything with the story's main character. Tarkin is the lead villain in his story, he's a little more important than the guy who mouths off at Vader once and gets choked. They are story-important even if they never shoot anybody or cut anybody down with a lightsaber, but the guy who mumbles 2 lines and then disappears into the background, he's still obscure.

I think maybe "coolness" might be the antithesis of "obscure" here. Greedo is much cooler than Owen, even though he has just a few moments on screen. So who gets the action figure first? The green weird-talkin' dude with a gun.

Another possibility: Chukha-Trok. He's not in the Ewok TRU set, despite supposedly making it to the prototype stage.

08-23-2012, 11:22 AM
I'd vote for Tzzvvzzt. He's definitely obscure. You only see him for a split second, although you see him for a bit longer in the deleted scenes. I think he's one of the cooler, unmade, cantina characters.
