I should say that is some sort of a controller - to control doors open/shut? on/off control for naked C3PO? Tatooine style mobile phone? Nah, a controller of some sorts.

...Bong Wars!

No, no, that can't be right...just because Luke AND Shmi both have a dazed look in their eyes...no...that can't be it. ;)

She was fixing some circuitry when Ani and Qui-Gon came back from selling the podracer. That's what I'd guess this is.

As stated earlier, Shmi was working on some kind of equipment at one point in the film. Since Episode I was the single most documented film in the series to date, it is possible that Hasbro based the accessory on one of the actual movie props that was on the set (if not actually seen in use). However, Hasbro being Hasbro, it could just be something that is akin to the types of things you might have seen on the sets.

Hasbro calls it a Data Pad... what ever that is...

I think that it is a piece of diagnostic equipment or something.

"I'll miss you mom!"

Shmi: "Yes, yes just leave okay...mmm-hmm go with the nice grizzled man...at last my pretty we are alone"

...I apologize for that....its just gross...:p

It is that thing that she was working with when that grizzled man and her whiny son came in. I think it is like a calculator-type thing.

Hmmm...i'll have to look at the picture again, but from what i remember, it lookslike some kind of filter...Lets see what hasbro tells us.

With the view in the pics and Hasbro's description, it seems pretty clear to me.

Insn't it the same thing Padme's original Ep1 figure had? The pad they used for watching the pod races? Just guessing here, I haven't looked at the pic for a while.

Sorry, stillakid, fresh out of trophies. And statuettes. :D It's purely a verbal award, by nature.

And, from the way the pic looks to me, the device is some sort of hardware with a cord that trails out of it. Hmm, that cord HAS to plug in somewhere..........;)

She comes with Anakin's "emancipated juvenile" paperwork from family court......;)

Geez, Star Wars family court? I can just see that.

Still...maybe she could have come with some more blue milk? That might have been interesting....even though I don't think we even saw blue milk in Ep.I.

Shmi was awfully trusting. For all she knows, Qui Gon works for Nike.

Anakin's father.

That would explain why Vader has wires coming out of his wrist at the end of ROTJ. "Midichlorians" my sphincter.

You do know that the reason Vader had wires sticking out of his wrist was because he was mostly machine, MisterPL?

Padme has a portable view screen while Shmi has some device?

Mostly machine or got his hand cut off some time in Ep. II or Ep. III

In Darth Vaderīs POTF2 card, kenner used to put some stats of the character, in there it says something of a battle between Obi Wan and Anakin, supposedly Anakin lost the battle and was nearly killed, thats why he had to reconstruct himself, now i dont know if he lost his hand in that battle. We'll have to wait for the next two movies.

Okay, two answers here:

The sarcastic BS answer: Vader's got wires coming out his wrist because his "Daddy" is a marital aid!

The definitive EU answer: One of Vader's kids cut his arm off in Splinter of the Mind's Eye between Episodes IV & V. I forget whether it was Luke or Leia.

Pick one, but I kinda like the first.
