View Full Version : New Lightsabers too brittle?

I really love the newly styled lightsabers. I really have to give Hasbro props for listening to fans who wanted removable blades on all of the sabers, and making them look pretty good.
The only problem I see is that the little post on the bottom of the saber blade is very small and it seems like it could break very easily. This really is one thing that I can't blame Hasbro for, because it isn't shoddy construction or poor materials. They seem to have used a much stronger plastic for the sabers than for any of the other weapons.
None of mine have broken , but my Eeth koth, Shaak Ti, and Plo Koon all have sabers which seem pretty fragile to be carrying into battle ;) :D
Has anyone here had theirs break?

Yeah... I had a slight problem with the Eeth Koth one... it bent and thought for certain that the little peg would break off. That's about the only thing I don't care for with the new lightsabers. Well... not too crazy about that little flash effect at the base of the blade.

I like the new lightsabers as well. I liked the older ones just fine, but thats ok. I havn't had a problem with my Eeth's blade yet.

Well I don't like the energy blasts (as I've pointed out thousands of times :p) but the removeable blade feature is pretty cool. One of my two Eeth Koth (not sure if it's the loose or carded one) had a bit of a bent lightsaber due to him sliding up a little in the packaging on one side, you might try heating it up with a hairdryer and restraightening it, I didn't do that, as mine just kinda settled. I think the plastic used for Eeth's is a bit more stronger than those that will most likely be used for E2.

it isn't from AOTC but the removable blade of my darth maul sith lord lightsaber broke off, too
I just glued it back on - but still hope eeth koth (I don't have him) and the AOTC lightsabers are made of harder plastic

Actually, the ones on my Plo Koon and Shaak Ti seem a little stronger than Eeths. That's the thing though; if the plastic is too hard, it will just snap if pressure is put on it. If it is a little softer, then it will bend a lot, but it won't break as easily. *sigh*
Always these little problems.;)

I haven't had that problem as of yet. I do a lot of custom lightsabers and most of the time replace them with mine. I save the ones that come with the figures and only replace if I really don't like the lightsaber.
