I just opened my R4 figure last night to find that he has a clear piece on top that lets light shine through to light his eye piece...
Similar to the Jawa figures...
I didn't know about this feature... did anyone else.

Yep. I think the only Atromech droid that hasn't had that feature recently is the R2-Q5 (is that the designation for the black Imperial droid?)
The official term for it is a "light pipe" I think.

Well R3 doesn't have it... If R3 did it would be worth it cause even without it his whole head IS that feature.
Not a very interesting feature, they didn't do it all that well, it's ok, but somehow a full detailed head is much more fun, however R4 itself is great!

That eye never glows in the movie... it should have been the little red/blue one underneath it on the R2s... the way they did it for the little red from the queen's starship!

Thats right. It's a 'light pipe' I forgot about that term. I think it's cool.

i think the best part is that it's green and not the usual blue. But has anyone noticed how these newer R2 droids bodies are longer than they should be? Compare R2 or anything since the royal starship red one to Holo Leia R2 For a start Holo R2 is really short but these newer droids have less space between the bottom of the body and the ground. Astro droids should have a lot more space beneath his body. Just an observation not a criticism. :)

I would totally have to agree with you. I know people are heralding the Holo Leia Artoo as THE perfect Artoo, but I really think that it is not. I think the sculpt for the Royal Starship red Astromech has one of the best sculpts. The Holo Leia Artoo seems a bit on the small side, although he is impeccably detailed. In all honesty, I think the detailing on the E1 Artoo's head is the most accurate of them all. I thought the blue colouring was spot on and the only thing MISSING from it was the top "projector" thingy. Oh, well. I still think that the Astromechs are about the best thing going in the line right now.

Yeah, at least we're not getting stuff like POTF2 R2 or R2-B1 molds.

I was really upset that R2-B1 didn't have the retractible third leg. What was up with that??? Apparently they weren't really thinking that one through. It was pretty sad considering that figure came out after we got that brilliant red astromech as a PACK-IN FIGURE!!!!!!! Does anyone have a clue why Hasblah did that?? And I really want an honest answer... NOT a "because they suck" type of response.

R2-B1 was in that same assortment as TC-14, Sio Bibble, etc.
They were the hard to find ones from EP1.
I think Hasbro hurried these figures and got them out as quick as possible.
R2-B1 was basically a repaint of R2-D2 and TC-14 was a repaint of the classic C-3PO. There really wasnt alot of sculpting to be done on these figures, so Hasbro probably didnt pay much attention to extras like a 3rd leg for the R2 unit. Its a shame though, because the 3rd leg would be a good addition to the figure.
That is just my theory, but it makes sense to me since these figures were hurried out so quick and so short produced.

Yeah, R2-B1 was a repaint of one of the less accurate R2-D2 sculpts. Why they used that one, and not the Holo Leia R2, I have no clue, just an attempt to cut cost on the figure, no doubt. He's ok, but I do wanna do a re-paint of him sometime in the future using a better astromech body.
As for TC-14, she is more of a new sculpt. The legs were for once, not put in a wide stance like the previous 3PO figures. The arms were also a new sculpt, to accomidate her grasping hands, somthing that has been needed on a C-3PO figure for some time. The head is also newly sculpted, but I am not to sure about the torso, it seems new...but I can't tell for sure.

She was a new sculpt to to bottom, but was reused to create K-3P0.
