Well we finally got the preview figures for AOTC in Syracuse, My local Wal-Mart had the best price @ $5.88!!!

But I was wondering if anyone has discovered anything special about these figures, errors, rareities anything?! You know kinda like how Chancellor Valorum had that sticker covering the warning label in the Episode 1 line and etc!

The only thing I've discovered is a difference in one of the serial #'s stamped on the back of one of my figures!

Clone Trooper 13651
Jango Fett 13581
R3-T7 20071
Zam Wesell 20021

These are the numbers the figures are suppossed to have stamped on the back of each card, but one of my R3-T7's has Jango's 13581 stamp instead of 20071!

anyone else got the same thing or is this just truely a manufacturing screw up? Just wondering? :greedy:

Well basically that's not really a variation, they're not serial numbers, they're date stamps, and those ones being different means the figures were packaged at different times.

Currently I'm starting to hear reports of people freaking out over the littlest thing and calling them some rare variation or something. Like one I heard that this person found a bunch of Jango's in a store one day and while looking them they saw that alot of the Jango's had the blast effects attached to the guns while some had just one blast effect fully attached the gun and the 2nd had got scooted forward in it's tray so it was still in front of the gun, just not on the peg, and then they said they also found a couple with both blast effects not on the pegs. Madness...

What people don't understand is things like that aren't even factory errors, it happens during packing in which the blast effect was posistioned differently when getting the tape put over it, or it could even happened during shipping and the thing gets shaken around.

LOL, I know what you mean, people can get really crazy with variations and all, but I'm talking about legitimate errors or variations. Like the one I mentined above with Valorum. It's pretty hard to mistake that one!

ThanX! I wasn't really sure what those stamped numbers on the back of the cards were, but I'm still a little curious how 13651 or 20071 can be "Dates". I'm assuming that you're referring to the numbers representing some sort of marker in production or shipping that is assigned to the cards to mark that point of production and not actual dates like 05/25/02! So my R3-T7 was produced or shipped at the same time or in the same lot as Jango was...hhmmm, possible but it's strange that all the other figures on the shelf all had the same numbers as they were suppossed to(as described in my original post) and this one R3-T7 was the only one that was different!

I'm still not 100% convinced..yet! I'll have to wait and see after more of the figures have been released. Actually does anyone have different numbers then the ones I showed above, or once again anyone know of other errors or variations?

Well the main variation with the AOTC figures is that some have backgrounds behind them in the bubble, and some don't. Not just that one character has on and another character doesn't, but that one character has one and the same character in a different package doesn't have one. It's probably not gonna affect the value of the figures though. Besides, these figures aren't gonna end up being worth too much seeing as how every single person in the world buys them (well not exactly, but pretty close). I think the coolest variation on Star Wars packaging was how the original Yoda from Episode I didn't have the "Episode I" text on the card. And then eventually later they put it back on. And some would think that the one without the text was the most valuable, but it was the other way around because the one with the text was pretty rare....I never found it :( Speaking of disappointing things... I found out last night that I'm only 4 figures short of owning the entire Episode I basic figure collection. I've got 43 and there are 47. Guess it's time to see about gettin them off of Ebay.

Actually there are 50 even IF you count all 4 Battle Droids.

BTW, I also thought it was pretty funny to watch non-collectors brag about getting the "Missing EP1 Logo" Yoda. hehehe

Does anyone know if it was the first batch of coll I and II that had the background inserts only or was there more to it that that?

I'm going to try to get them with the backgrounds as I think it's cool and it they've stopped making them already, they will be much harder to get in time, IMO.
