None of the LOTR threads got moved into the new movie section and this should have won Best Picture, so let's discuss!

Both FOTR and TTT are acceptable topics!

What does everyone think of the new TTT trailer? Have you gone to FOTR again for the trailer?

How great was Ian? He was my best supporting actor ;)

Just got back from seeing FotR with the TT's trailer. Looks very cool and exciting, even more so then the first one. :) I finally was able to force my brother to go see it, but I wish they wouldn't have shown Ian in the TT's trailer, he has no clue at all what happens in the books, so didn't know that Gandalf survived after he fell from the bridge. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. Now I can't wait til Christmas to see this one. Man, this year sure has some can't miss movies. :D

I still can't get over Gandalf's white horse. I'm surprised PJ would have such a blatant change from the books, seeing as how he is a huge fan.

Other than that, the movie looks awesome. One thing different about TTT than FOTR will be all the intertwining plot threads. In the book, the first "book" goes back in forth between the different characters' adventures, then the second "book" is all about Sam and Frodo. For the movie, they just have it switching back and forth from what I've seen. Might get confusing...

Does anybody know where I can download the new trailer. Or are they going to wait until it leaves theatres to put it up?

I think it's a theater only trailer, though it will probably appear on the DVD that comes out in August. Either way, after seeing that glimpse of "The Two Towers" I can't wait for Christmas. Like I said before, way to many good movies coming out this year. :D

Try Kazaa or Morpheus if you want the trailer, that's your best bet. That's where I got mine, it isn't great but it works.

I think this preview trailer though is a theater only thing for right now. Maybe in the summer it will be released on their site or the DVD, but for now its PJ's "thank you" to the fans. Well, on behalf of everyone in my household, I say "No, thank you PJ!"

I agree with JJ in that there are a lot of good movies I'm looking forward too, more than usual at least.;)

So, I heard that PJ was asking for more time to complete the effects on TTT cuz he didn't think it would be ready by Dec 19th. Is this true?

Personally I don't care, if the movie is a little delayed I don't mind as long as the finished product is as good as it can be.

Haven't seen the TTT trailer yet, I think I will have to wait until it shows up on the net.:(

This is a great time for movies, we have two great trilogies to enjoy and other stand alone films that I have been anticipating since I was a kid (Spider-Man being the main one - crossing fingers and hoping it doesn't totally blow). I've also heard that there is a deal to bring CS Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia books to the big screen.

Kind of reminds me of the 80s were we had the OT, Indiana Jones, ET and tons of other great films being released around the same time.

I am totally stoked for the Narnia movies. The BBC has taken a few stabs at it over the years, but the effects were sub par. I am bothered that they decided to renumber the books into "Chronological order"...:(

Thanks for the link to download the preview/trailer, jedi_uk73. Pretty big download but worth it, just like my WTC Spider-man trailer. :D

It looks like this one is going to be a lot better than the first one. It looks like Legolas is going to be using some swords this time around instead of just his Bow.

2002 - A great year for movies.

I gotta tell you, I'm a little distressed over PJ's decision to either exclude Shadowfax altogether, or make him white. A "white rider" on a white horse is soooo cliched. ;)

Actually, thanks for the link. I love this trailer. It has to be one of the best of all times. I can't wait to see TTT. Arghhhhhh......we have all this time to wait, and the only thing to hold is over is Spider-man and ANOTHER Star Wars movie, geeesh. How pathetic.

PJ actually did want a little more time for TTT, but New Line insisted that the movie be done for a December release. Word is he wanted time to work on the DVDs, take some time off, and work on TT. Suffice to say, I think we'll be getting TT in December.

Okay. Now that we've all watched it. Who is the long haired guy on the horse looking all disheveled? He shows up right after the shot of Legolas pulling his short swords out and doing a little flip action during the Helm's Deep battle.

Only too glad to help Guys.

I can't wait for the release either. If it's as good as the first, we are in for a good time.

Rollo, the guy I think your referring to, at about 2:50 into the trailer is Eomer. The leader of the Rohirrim that meets up with the trio shortly into their search for Merry and Pip.

Aha. I thought it was Hama or somebody, but I was thinking "Surely he's not a big enough character to make it into the trailer?" Do you think they'll show the first battle with the Uruk-Hai when Eowyn's brother gets killed, or just talk about it in dialogue?

Wolfwood319

I have no idea. I can't remember which battle that was, and where it took place. But, if it was only discussed in the book, it'll probably only be mentioned in TT. With all the crazy characters in TT, I can't imagine they'd put in even more than was written in the book, a la Gandalf/Sauraman fight in FOTR.

With all the switching back and forth through the different storylines, who knows. TT will be the true test of PJ, IMO. FOTR was rather tame and linear. TT is all over the place. If PJ can't get this done as good or better than FOTR, then he truly deserves praise.

I agree Rollo! In fact, Fellowship not taking the Best Picture Oscar ends my 11 year streak at predicting the winner. I was absolutely certain it would win right up until Ron Howard was announced as Best Director. Of course, this was the first time in eleven years that I hadn't seen all the major contenders (still haven't seen Beautiful Mind, and for no real reason I might add. Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors, and I still haven't seen it. Go Figure!). Regardless, I thought LOTR was a lock just based on the popularity factor alone! Kind of like Gladiator which, while one of MY top 3 favorites, was not necessarily the best picture that year, but I predicted would win due to it's overwhelming popularity.

I often think a movie should win Best Picture and it doesn't. I thought L.A. Confidential should have beat Titanic. It didn't.

I thought Saving Private Ryan should have beat Shakepeare in Love. It didn't.

I thought Lord of the Rings should have beat Beautiful Mind. It didn't.

But the all time biggest upset in my book is 1977...I quote JT.
"Annie Hall?!? ANNIE Freakin' HALL?!?!? "

Can it be? We've only got a little over three months before TTT hits the big screen? I am so excited for the deluxe DVD set (I'm snagging one with the little statue thingies). I got the regular DVD but all that did was whet my appetite. I wish I had signed up for the fanclub so I could get my name in the DVD credits. Oh well...

I've not heard about this. If you were in the LOTR fan club you get your names in the credits of the extended version??? Oh BOLLOCKS I was gonna join but decided not to !!! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!! Oh well...perhaps Star Wars would do something like that, but I doubht everyones names would fit on. There is a fan club in nearly every country and probably all have millions of members. Even if fan club members would be in the credits of a SW film it would probably only be the US fan club, because we all know they get the best stuff and the other fan clubs are forgotten...

I thought that if you were in the fan club then you were randomnly chosen kinda like a contest, to get your name in their. May be wrong though.

Nope, if you signed up for the special "gold membership" or whatever it was, you got into the credits for the Extended Cut DVD's. Now the thing is, it wasn't cheap. If I recall correctly it was like $149.99 for to be included on the Fellowship disc, $199.99 for the Fellowship and TTT discs, and $249.99 for all three. You think with prices like that, it wouldn't have been so popular. But the Fan Club Credit sequence runs 17 minutes, and had to have a new music score done for it. :crazed: :)
