I haven't been around for a while, and I noticed that there is no longer a chat link. did the chat room get closed? Anyone who knows, please tell me.

Its not a big loss. It was rarely used, if at all.

Last I remember, we kept having problems with it and so it eventually went into disuse. Really, I like the forums better anyway. :D
I actually miss it. Not many people showed up, but I got to know a few people better. Mostly JediTricks. I would like to see another one in the future, but that could just be me.

I never used it, but it would be nice to get it up and going again. There is a lot I'd like to know about certain people here.

I'm all for Sir Steve bringing back the chatroom, maybe with some better software then the old version. I know I would be in there most of the time I was on-line. I am more of a chat type of person anyway. Plus it sure would be fun to have weekly themed chats. Hey Sir Steve, if ya ever wanna bring the chatroom back, and ya need someone to help moderate it...I'll take the job. I just think Sir Steve's would be great having the old chatroom back. I kinda miss it. I remember being in it back in 99, man those were the days. :D

I remember trying to use it a few times last year, but it never worked for me. I would like to chat with the other forumites, especially the ones that are logged on as late as me sometimes, like JJ or Ceaser.
It would be nice to have weekly or monthly chats where SirSteve could be there, or something. It would be nice to be able to chat with a lot of people here, instead of just going back and forth with posts.

I agree. I'm on here mostly late at night and I usually notice that JJB, Wolfwood, and Caesar are on here. I wouldn't mind chating with you guys.

Well, I could move/copy this thread to the Comments/Suggestions section so Steve could see you guys do want a working SSG chatroom back. That sound like a good idea or no?
Oh, and I edited the title of this thread for clarity.

Sounds like a good idea to me, JT. I didn't realize this many people were interested in having a chat room.

Yeah, lets get the chatroom back. I only used it like once or twice, but I wouldnt mind trying it out again.

Here's my vote so that the Chat room returns. I never tried it and i really was looking forward to try it, but then it was gone. Bring it back please.

Ok, I copied this thread over to that section.
Sure, I'd give it a try. :) I usually check in here late at night for awhile, and I try to get in during the day for a little bit, so it would be cool to stop in the chatroom and talk a bit.
Especially with a new movie coming out, because there will be so many things I want to talk about, even if it's only "hey, wasn't that cool", or wasn't that lame?". Just sillyness like that, stuff that I wouldn't really discuss in depth but rather just "b.s" about. :D

Darklord, since you appear to be interested in this cause, I merged your thread into this one and made the title even more specific.

the chatroom was much better than this Stale posting...at least it as live and you could interact with people...much better. I mean if your looking at usage many of the forums are way to old to use ???

There have been a few more requests for this recently. Just making it known that some folks would still like to see this.

The main problem I've found with the previous chat room at SirSteve's was that no one ever used it. It was a baron wasteland every time I go in there to check it out. It be kind of a waste to put another one in only to have the same results.

If you are concerned about the fact that very so few people are at the chatrooms during certain times, one idea that you can implement is to schedule a certain time during the week for a get together. Just pick a date and a time (it seems to me that around 9-10pm EST is the most popular) and announce it in advanced to the forum. You can also do a weekly time for certain collectors like, 12inchers and Micro Machine collectors. Hopefully this will increase usage of the chatrooms
I think part of the reason it was empty is because it wasn't a very user friendly chat system. In my opinion anyway. For a short while it was populated, but only for a short while. But we are currently in a hot time in SW, and I think time is of the essence as far as the chat room. There are tons of new people that have become regs since it was up last, and I would love to get to know them better.

I've only been on "full time" :D since AOTC. Many of the other frequent users here seem to have developed good relations with each other. Part of the way that kind of thing happens is though chats. It is harder to post back and forth on a thread, there's too much waiting and it's too easy to get sidetracked looking for pictures of bloody Luke or something. I do this frequently, and forget to check that thread again right away. It often does take hours for people to get back to you, especially when you live out west.
I would like a chat feature here to get to know some of the "old folks" better, and a few of the people I've had the pleasure of quasi-conversing with through forums.
It's brutal living in the woods with literally no one else that seems to care about SW the way I do. "You mean THAT'S Darth Vader?" is as common here as "Please pass the salt."
What about just having a trial period to see if it's popular? I don't even know if that kind of thing is possible, but it might be a good barometer of the desire for a full-time chat feature.

the problem i have with a chat room is that if you get more then 10 people in there, everyone then kinda resorts to shouting and not being heard. at least with the forumes, you can real all the posts, and then responde to the ones you need to. if the rooms were limited in size, i would be interested.

I too would love the chat room to return, and I have memories of 98-99 where I would often chat there with a few people where I was called ReeTessekYees. Happy memories...

I never noticed the chat room when I first joined but if I knew it was there I'd probably be in all the time. I hope Sir Steve decides to bring it back with the next upgrade he is doing.

I think a chatroom would be good for the Forums. It might reduce the amount of work the Moderators have to do deleting and merging threads.

Would it actually be difficult to get a chatroom here???? I think it's a good idea..I'd use it.
