Alright, I'll play the village idiot and ask. What the poop is a transparent .gif? Is it different from a regular .gif?

A transparent .gif is a gif that has a transpararent background. Meaning everything around the image can blend in with the background color because it is transparent. Notice how the smilie blends in:

Oh, I think I get it. So if my avatar was a transparent .gif then the background around Kithaba's head would be non-existent?
