View Full Version : Immediately after the opening scroll.

We've seen that Uncle George likes repeated themes in his films. We all know each of the OT movies starts with a Star Destroyer. So far, if spoilers are correct, each of the PT will start with an unassuming transport ship flying in, landing, and being attacked. Will this motif be carried into E3, and how might it be done?

As stated in the Mace thread, after the opening scroll explains that the Clone Wars have been raging for a few years now and the Republic/Imperial army is on the ropes, they are attempting an all or nothing last stand by attacking the heart of the separatist's fortress, then it pans down to show a fleet of capital ships and fighters headed for a planet which turns into a HUGE Saving Private Ryan-esque landing and ground battle reminiscent of the battle of Hoth. Thus opens the third film.

it will probably start out with scrolling yellow text summarizing what happend after AOTC and then the camera will pan down to reveal a planet or space ship ;)

I believe no one will now by now....
TPM :Republic cruiser + Naboo
AOTC:Naboo satrship + Coruscant
EP3: ? + ?
ANH: Tantive 4 + Tatooine
ESB: Star Destroyer + HOTH
ROTJ:Star Destroyer + Death Star II

I believe that a reconseable ship, like republic destroyers or count dooku's will be the ship.......the planet must be a new one, nore coruscant or tatooine.......Geonosis has a chance, but little, so it could be Dagobah? hmmm can anticipate something, maybe Alderaan.....

Maybe it'll be Yoda piloting a custom Jedi Starfighter made for his size, that'd be awesome!

"Flying I hate, this is why!" - Yoda.

05-07-2002, 07:16 PM
"Ahh, not enough room for the crotch, this starfighter's seat has."

Yoda or Anakin will definitely kill Dooku on Dagobah. Dooku's dark side energy mutates the cave that Luke visits in ESB.

I very seriously doubt that Dooku dies on Dagobah.

05-07-2002, 07:51 PM
I agree to that Jedi Clint not possible by a long shot.

05-07-2002, 07:59 PM

Then where did the dark side energy come from?

Battle Droid

Well they should at least explain why the " Cave " is the way it is, besides in the EU.

I see no issue with the lack of explanation for why the cave/tree is strong with the dark side of the force. It just is.

05-07-2002, 09:04 PM
After the explanation for how the force works in E1, do we really want to know why that cave was so sensitive to force users? :)

Anyway. The cave wasn't full of cave dark force power. It only brings out what you take with you into it. I don't remember Yoda saying its full of dark force power, nor any force power other than what normally surrounds/binds the universe.

" That place is strong with the Dark Side of the Force, a Domain of Evil it is. " " In you must go." - Yoda.

Shows what I remember. :)

Anyway. Dooku isn't gonna be killed in there. He'll be killed on coruscant by Anakin, which will turn him to the dark side.

Maybe, though it'd be kinda silly if we never see Yoda get to kill someone.

05-09-2002, 03:43 PM
I think there is a major clue in the reason why some jedi become ghosts and others don't. I've mentioned this a number of times and still believe it may hold true. Especially in light of what we now know about Yoda and Dooku in AOTC.

Obi-Wan killed Maul
Anakin kills Palpatine a.k.a Sideous
Yoda killed or will kill....who

I agree that it will be Yoda who kills Dooku, not Anakin. Yoda and Dooku's battle hasn't been resolved yet. Dooku escapes remember.

My hypothesis is this: In order for a Jedi to reach enlightenment in a way that he/she becomes a ghost, a Jedi has to abolish an agent of the dark side. If this is correct it explains the Jedi ghosts at the end of ROTJ.

Perhaps, Dooku learns of the twins and follows Yoda and Obi-Wan to Dagobah intent to abduct Luke.

I have been thinking about these things as well.

I like the idea that it is Dooku who dies on Dagobah. I don't remember where I read it (may have been the ESB book) but it is stated in one of the EU books that the cave is where Yoda killed a very strong Sith/Dark Jedi.

Also, as for the "Luminous beings" after reading AOTC I am convienced that Qui-Gon will be the one who teaches Yoda and Obi-Wan how to "Vanish" as they die.

!!!!!!!!!!WARNING !!!!!BIG SPOILER HERE !!!!!!!!!!WARNING !!!!!

A small quote from the book:

"And then he heard a voice, a familiar voice, crying, "No, Anakin! No! Don't! No!"
It was Qui-Gon. Yoda knew that it was Qui-Gon. But Qui-Gon was dead, had become one with the force! One could not retain consciousness and sense of self in that state; one could not speak from beyond the grave."

800 years of training Jedi, and Yoda had no knowledge of Jedi being able to communicate with the living after death.
I think we will see Qui-Gon in Ep3, and I bet he has a big role to play in the hiding of the twins, Yoda and Obi-Wan.

TPM : Planet NABOO is seen / a REPUBLIC ship in space.

AOTC : CORUSCANT is seen / a REPUBLIC Ship with fighters escorting.

ANH : TATOOINE is seen / a REPUBLIC ship chased by an IMPERIAL ship in battle.

ESB : HOTH is seen / an IMPERIAL ship in space.

ROTJ : ENDOR is seen / an IMPERIAL ship with fighters escorting.

Drum roll........notice how there is a flip flop effect here, makes you think of how III will go. So just like ANH, but flip it and remember they have already mentioned that the Clone Wars ends at the beginning of III...Also notice that there's a different or new planet for each beginning...

(Who knows what it'll be called, but here I have it as "Revenge of the Sith", or "DarkKnight"

ROTS or DK : ALDERAAN is seen / a SEPARESTS ship chased by a REPUBLIC ship in battle.

It's just for fun but that's what I think GL will do. He already has said that these newer movies are refletions of the older ones but only on the other foot, so to speak.

What do you think?

09-05-2002, 04:43 PM
I know this is probably something that everyone is expecting, but let me just say the whole idea of 10,000 jedi galaxy-wide dwindling down to Obi-Wan and Yoda is a bit tough to consider. It would seem that it would take 100 years to exterminate so many of them. My thoughts have dwelled on the fact that mainly clone troopers would be fighting the clone wars. And Jedi would most likely command them.

It makes sense that hundreds of Jedi would perish in the clone wars. After all, they are a big part of the clone wars.

I believe in the opening crawl, GL will reveal a little about how many Jedi perished so far in the wars and it'll be some unbelieveable number like 7,000 or something. That way, less than 3,000 will need to be killed off in EP3. Although this number will make it easier to kill off the rest of the jedi, I can't believe the Jedi council would allow their numbers to drop more than 20%.

What do you think?

09-05-2002, 04:58 PM
Alot of Jedi's will perish in the Clone Wars, but they aren't going to deal with all the remaining deaths in E3. Remeber what Ben tells Luke in ANH. "Vader helped the Emperor hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights, he betrayed and murdered your father." Now we know that Ben stretches the truth some, but it's obvious in the 18 years span between E3 and ANH, that Vader was doing some of this. So they don't have to exterminate all the Jedi by the end of E3. :)

I think there are 20 years between E3 and ANH. Plenty of time to hunt down and destroy the remaining Jedi.

As for what transpires immediately after the scroll. I think we may see one of the large Republic ships that lifted off from the staging area in AOTC fly overhead and into the thick of the final battle of the clone wars.

09-05-2002, 05:12 PM
Nope, not 20. Luke and Leia are born near the end of E3, and both are supposed to be 18 in ANH. So there can't be 20 years between E3 and ANH. :)

Jar Jar is correct. It's twenty.
Maybe a nice thing would be to see the Tantive IV in Ep3! :D

it could be something to do with palpy/emperor, because, there can only bee 2 sith, right? as yoda and mace tell us in TPM, so maybe palpy knows that anakin will join the dark side, but will not be able to if palpy already has a apprentis, so he kills dooku in order to make space for anakin!
also i would like to say, who ever it was who said about qui-gon helping hide obi-wan, yoda, luke and leia, that is a very good piont, but, 1) i think qui-G's body did not vanish, because he was not at one with the force, he did not plan to get himself killed! were as yoda knew it was the end, and obi sacrificed himself! and 2) i think he will come back ( how i dont know) but i believe that he will warn obi wan, about the darkness swelling in obi's padawan, and warns him not to under estimate the power of the dark side! obi believes that he can train anakin and still keep him light, and train him like master yoda, POSSIBLE SPOILER!-
but when anakin draws out his light sabre, obi cant say no, or he will be killed! so they fight, anakin falls into lava, needs his body reforming, then this is when he belives what qui-gon said, and asks his master for help, he goes to were ever padmé is staying then takes her and hides her!
anyway i am abbering on, but i have a theory
i thought maybe anamin stands side by side with palpy, while he kills ppadmé with the force lightning, this is why anakin can not stand to see his son killed the same way as the love of his life was
anyway, just a thought!

09-06-2002, 10:57 AM
also, when ben kenobi says " he is or last hope"
i think that yoda is addmitting there si another, not reminding, him, maybe obi is taking luke to tatooine, when padmé has liea, but, i do not believe that obi-wan knows at the time of TESB, and when luke goes, that is when yoda tells ben the truth
[b] what do you think[/b[ anyway!

Hmm...I didn't know all that stuff about the cave, I also think Dooku dies there. That gives me an idea for a diorama...Anyway, back on topic, I think it would be cool if Dooku's Solar Sailer appeared after the opening scroll. It would be shut, then open up with a loud "Whoosh", and the whole fly-by engine sound...thing.

09-10-2002, 06:01 PM
I thought Rick said and George confirmed that only 2-3 years pass between AOTC and Episode III. I definately like the idea of Yoda taking out Count Dooku. Maybe he'll do it like Star Wars Spoofs site has it!! (anybody who hasn't seen it, head to www.starwarsspoofs.com and click on Geonosis).

P.S.- I got incredibly giddy when hearing the idea of Dooku going after Baby Luke. Is it 2005 yet?? :D

In the Zahn duology Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future, there is an explanation given as to why the cave is strong in the dark side. A un-named Dark Jedi came and Yoda killed him. Lucas said he doesn't manipulate the movies to fit the books, but there is no other reasonable explanation. Maybe palpy gets some dark jedi and sends them to kill jedi and one unfortunate one finds Yoda. I think Anakin kills Dooku, but there is only one person who really knows.:D

Anakin is pushed over the edge by his fight with Obi-wan. Anakin is mortally wounded and calls on the power of the dark side to heal himself.

You know, this is a long shot, but what if the cave on Dagobah is the same cave that Anakin and Obi-Wan battle in, it just happens that Dagobah used to be a place of lava and volcanos but is turned into a swamp area somehow and thats why the cave is a Domain of evil and why Luke shes his face in Darth Vader's helmet becuase it is where his father was transformed from Anakin to Darth Vader. Just a thought, not much thought behind it though.
