I'm sure many people on this message board have spent alot of $$$ to get a certain figure that you couldn't get from a shop or other place.

Whats the most money you have spent on a single figure to obtain it and which figure???

Thoughts?

The three most expensive pieces in my collection by category are:

Ship- Collector Fleet Super Star Destroyer $80 (but it was Birthday Money I pretended not to have)

Figure- Long Saber Dagobah Luke- $25 (one of the first I ever bought when I didn't realize there were other resources besides TRU and Comic Book Shops)

Playset- Micro Collection Death Star World (the 1983 one) "about $100", and worth every penny I might add- this toy rocks!!!!

I ended up shelling out 60 dollars for the new Ywing. I was on ebay looking for one and I had found one for 30. Being my ignorant self, I didnt read the additional info and went ahead and bought it now. Well that was cool untill I found out I had to shell out another 30 for the shipping and handling. Because it was coming from Taiwan! Learn a lesson folks, read the S&H costs!!!

Also I spent $30 on Ree Yees
And if one of my friends happen to buy a figure or vehicle I havent found yet...I give them a little extra for the effort and consideration. I am just nice that way

I think the most I've ever spent on a single item was the 12" Biker Scout with Speeder Bike, which set me back $125.

I didn't even spend that much on my vintage A-Wing and AT-AT!

$45 for the R2-D2 with holo Leia. But as I look back on it...it was a good buy. Sorta.

Then I won an Eopie off SleezeBay for $75

Yeah...I know...but I couldn't help myself :p

Ship - 112 on the royal starship.

Figure - 30 on a death star trooper.

Beast - 55 on a Fambaa.

Don't know how that converts to dollars. Math aint my strongest point... :)

On a single SW Item? It must be the 12" Speeder Bike & Biker Scout. It made me poorer by S$200 (ie US$1 = S$1.8).

Magnolia-Fan, I said it hurts, still to this day. He was my first and last panic situation. I fell for the "Well, you may not find him again" line. Never again. Never.

Come to think of it, I spent $20 on monkey Leia right before the market was flooded with her.

Maybe I could set her up with your Lando, and they could go open a gym with all the money we've given them...

Sweet lord evenflow, I hope you mean 150 pesos or some other extremely devalued currency and not $.

The most I ever spent on a single figure was $25 for the FF TIE pilot about 1.5 years ago. I even got the FF Weequay cheaper, but it was the tri-logo version.

The most I ever spent on a single SW item was the $40 B-Wing which I am seriously thinking about returning because it's definitely not worth the price.

OOPS!! this was supposed to go into the "how much have you paid?" Thread... sorry

The most I have paid for a figure is $24.00 for Dagobah Luke with the longer light saber.

I guess I thought he would be more manly with a longer saber.... ?

Anyway... it's not really a $24.00 figure. But it was around the Episode I hype... when everyone acted like there was only 5 of each figure made.

(Mod Note - That's OK, I merged it into the thread it was supposed to go to. -JT)

When this all started up again, I mistakenly paid attention to the doomsayers and believed that I would never find a C-3PO at retail. I paid a comic book shop guy $20 for him (shop just so happens to be next to a Toys R Us, Woodley and Sherman Way for those of you in the Valley). That's the most I've been scalped anyway.

My most expensive item is the $800 I paid for the Deluxe Darth Vader mask.

Probably about a third of the figures I own (of the new ones) I paid more than retail price for, but not usually more than a buck or two to online outfits...never an ebay scalper. Thankfully, most of my ships and playsets were all bought at retail prices.

My vintage stuff is mostly original, but I bought a Death Star Gunner loose (and so are his joints!) for $70 bucks.

I was thinking about getting one of those Deluxe Vader Masks, stillakid. Would you say it's worth $800 (even though I've yet to see one for less than $1500)?

I was given a generous discount from a friend, indeed.

Is it worth the price? A hearty, yes. It truly is amazing. Completely authentic looking. The drag is that I'm only 5'11" and it was cast for someone who is considerably larger than I am. It would top a great costume if I was big enough to pull it off.

Aside from that, the pins that stick out of the front of the mask were cast into this one. The original has glued on thingies. I've also added a bit of vinyl "grid" behind the existing mouthpieces to better obscure the inside as light is introduced through the back end.

Some day in the future, I hope to modify it by adding the rear neck piece, plus somehow enhancing the "hidden" top area with reveal mask type do-dads. The inside would be cool to enhance also. I've taken several pictures of the original reveal mask at the traveling exhibit to help in the future effort. In order to see inside, I had to gingerly stick my digital camera between the wall and the display to snap a picture. It's pretty ugly in there actually.

A few years ago, I happened upon a Star Wars toy show/sale thing in Pasadena and saw this guy with a replica reveal mask. Of course, it turns out that it was Steve Sansweet but I didn't know it at the time. I'd LOVE to get ahold of my own. Probably not going to happen, so I'll have to modify my own mask one day.
