PS2 is gonna be online ready this August and sounds like Xbox will be in November. PS2 is gonna be free and it sounds like with Xbox that there will be a monthly fee ($10??) Any of you going to be out there playing online with them. I'll be playing on day one for both of them. Can't wait for Unreal Championship for the XBox. Socom Navy Seals looks really cool for the PS2. It's gonna be an awesome year. LOTR comes on DVD in August, PS2 goes online in August, Xbox in November, new LOTR movie this winter. I wish summer would hurry up and get over with. :D

I've always wanted to play my computer games online, like Duke Nukem or Monopoly but being slightly computer challenged, I never got around to actually doing it. Hopefully that will change with PS2, I can't wait to kick some booty!

It sounds like that for both systems online play will just be a few button presses away, that is once you have did the registration thing. When I went online with my Dreamcast it was simple. A couple button presses and I was online playing and surprisingly nearly lag free with a 56k modem. It's gonna be easy as heck to sign up and play. PS2 for sure will use your ISP that you have now and from what I have heard it'll be the same with the XBox. I think they both WILL except AOL, but I am not 100% on that. I know Dreamcast would not except AOL. Socom is the 1st PS2 game to go online (Socom is BROADBAND only though) I'll be on day one. Hope to see you all on there. :D

Halo is already online- I've been playing it for months. So when the "official" online stuff starts up, I'm jumping on it with both my Xbox and PS2.

Yes, ive heard about people playing Halo online. I read up on how to do it, but it sounded way too hard to set up, so I never bothered. I bet it's a blast.

The latest I heard was that PS2 adapter was going to be $39.99 with connections for both high speed and slower speeds (I think it supports a DSL or conventional modem).

Bad news for the UK and Europe is that there are no plans to release it here. Sony I'm not impressed:frus:

Tricks, weesa gonna hafta be hookin up on TMB! :) I love that game. I've noticed a whole bunch of TV commercials for it recent;y too for some reason. I'm wondering if they're trying to revive interest in it now that the PS2 Online service is about ready?

I'm going to ask for an Xbox for my bday on May 21st, so I may try it online. But really, there aren't any online Xbox games that interest me. I don't play sports games, and I don't like Halo much so... Oh well, maybe better ones will come out next year.:)

Really the only game I play online regularly is Counter Strike.

I've noticed that too, I bet they're just trying to offload the last of their "non-online" versions of TMB before they have to start selling the online version. In any event, online TMB is on my list of "PS2 things to spend money on" after GTA3 and a 2nd controller.

Man, PS2 accessories are starting to seem cheap to me now that the other consoles are out. I got a Gamecube for Xmas, and 1st party nintendo controllers are like $35!

But even Nintendos prices seem reasonable compared to Microsofts. They're just plain major ripoffs, $40 for a controller? $35 for a memory card!? What the heck? I'm not an Xbox basher, I'm actually asking for one for my bday next week, but those prices are ridiculous.

You don't need the memory card. All your game saves can go directly to the hard drive. But if you have a game save that you want to take to your friends house then you'll need the mem card to take it along with you.

Those prices are WAY too high I agree. ANd to top it off the XBox controller is the worst controller I've ever played with. I have fairly big hands and yet my hands ache after playing with that controller mainly from stretching my fingers to reach buttons. But I have read that the Japanese controller is being sold in the USA now, so I might get me one of those, but if it's $40, I don't know.

It's funny, as I posted about the Xbox prices yesterday, I was reading the Wall Street Journal about the PS2s price drop to $200. And today Microsoft dropped the Xbox to $200 also. YAY
Sony is dropping the prices on all it's accessories as well, so hopefully Microsoft will do the same.

Also read today that Gamecube controllers were FINALLY going down to $25! I broke my only one about 3 months ago but I just couldn't bring myself to pay $35 for a new one, so I got an adapter tthat lets me use my PS2 controller. It's worked well so far, but I really loved the Nintendo controller, so I'm glad I can finally get a new one.:)
