Last month a Hooters restaurant in Florida ran a promotion for their waitresses. Whoever sold the most drinks that month would win a brand new Toyota. Well the lady who won (thinking she won a new Toyota car/truck was blindfolded and escorted to the parking lot where her new Toyota awaited her. They took her blindfold off and there it was... ROFL a brand new Toy YODA. :D:D A little hasbro Yoda figure. She was SO ****ed she sued them and she won. Now she got the Toy Yoda AND she gets to go to a dealer and pick any Toyota vehicle she wants.   The whole Toyota thing was an april fools joke from the get go. Well now it cost them whatever the most expensive Toyota costs.

Good, as I said when the whole story came out a while back, this is a clear cut case of fraud, or atleast misrepresentation by the Hooter's Management. They are darn lucky it's only costing them the price of a Toyota. Maybe they will think mre next time, instead of trying to be smart arses. :(

Last month? Wasn't that stunt pulled over a year ago?

Anyway, I haven't followed the case because I don't care either way, but IF there was something in print that said she would win a Toyota, then I see her point.
But if they were only told by word of mouth that they would win a toy Yoda, then I think she's being too uptight and should just have a luagh over it.

LOL Maybe the story is a year old. I just read about it the other day. Well it's new to me at least. :)

Yeah, I read about this about a year ago and supposedly the waitress felt humiliated. I can kind of understand her point of view, if the managment is using something like that to harrass and belittle it's employees then there is a problem.

Do this news look so old to young eyes? :D

Actually I think the Yoda was the interactive Yoda, which at that time it probably still had the cracking eyelid problem, so not only did they rip her off on the Toyota, but they also ripped her off on the toy Yoda! :p

I believe this is news again because while the original event happened a year ago, the lawsuit was only recently settled.

Enlighten me, sir.
Would you say the toy Yoda incident is more or less belittling than the waitress' shorts and tank?

:D :D :D

From how I heard it the contest was played out from start to finish as if the prize was actually going to be a car. It was an April Fool's joke but the employees didn't know that. The shorts and tank top is something the waitresses accept going in to the job, the humiliation of a practical joke taken too far isn't.

If you haven't noticed, I am not a person who likes the idea of practical jokes at all. They are usually mean spirited and hurtful and considered harmless because the person behind the joke was "only kidding." Usually the opposite is true.

Employees are there to do a job, not to be made a laughing stock by the management. That's harrassment plain and simple.

Damn, there's no pleasing some people. I'd be happy if I got a toy Yoda.
