What do you think?

I think that it is a cool figure, but there are better choices out there. The Leia and Maul could have been on regular cards.

It's a cool figure but there is something about it that just doesn't do it for me.

Hasbro was really reaching with this one. Which is a shame since there are so many possibilities with the deluxe line, even with Ep1. For instance: Nute Gunray on walking chair with walking holo-projector; fully-transformable Droid-Fighter; Queen Amidala with throne and table. Just to name a few. There's plenty left to explore in Ep1, so why does Hasbro feel the need to go all EU with Ep1 already?

It looks ok, I don't know? The Training droid looks pretty darn big to me, Did he fight one that size in the comic book that the figures were taken from???

Nice sculpt

This thing is WEAK! The shoulder's are standard joints, and the lower mid-arm cut joints appear worthless since they'll ruin the tattoo look and do the same job as the upper ones. All in all, this feels lame, especially compared to the other 3 (yes, even Amanaman).

Maul looks OK to me and he has this Eeth-Koth-esque pose which is quite interesting. I hope Hasbro makes his face looks meaner than all its previous versions.
Now, about the big bad droid - can't help but think it looks like some Pokemon creature with those big red "eyes"
It certainly is the least attractive of the rest of the deluxe and as I have said before, I don't need the droid but would happily buy topless Maul if he's release as a standard card n' blister fig.

Yeah, if this is true, (and I am inclined to trust Jedi Tricks's comments) I don't think I'll be getting one. The tattoo designs are kinda cool, but I don't see from the pictures how this one qualifies as deluxe. Still better than, say, break-apart Maul, but hardly worth the extra money.

Another thing is that the droid isn't really too great. I dunno if it's accurate to the comic or not, but it feels like a cheesy trashy pack-in like that junk that came with most of the X-Men: Evolution figures.

Though I have no interest in the Maul figure for my personal (out of the package) collection, I will probably pick one up anyway. I must admit that the color picture, which is far superior to the cheesy b&w duotone image that predated this one, makes the figure look a lot better than expected. I agree that it was a poor choice for the initial deluxe line and should have been a regular carded release.
As to how accurate the droid is to those in the comic, I am pleased to see so many, even those who love the EU don't know for sure. We will have to wait until Sith Worm is online again to clear that up for us. It looks poorly designed enough to have come from a comic, an issue I will address later in a different forum.
Though I question the necessity of a second, non-seated Princess Leia as Jabba's Prisoner, especially in light of the fact that she was amoung the last of the "repacks", I think that the Deluxe version is quite striking and makes the line a 75% "must have" in my book (Maul making up the less desireable 25%).

I'll have to say that Darth Maul Deluxe has become my favorite figure, I think the whole tattoo exposed body was a phenomenal idea.

The only thing I don't like about the figure (or figures in this line) is the lack of poseability. They are pretty much frozen in one stance. It's a little light on "action" and a little too much on "figure". I hope this isn't the shape of things to come, but then again there IS my gripe with the new Eeth Koth in comparison to the new Fleet Trooper and Imperial Officer.

Oh, well... you can't have everything- not even consistency!

Hmmm the lightsaber is not straight, the pose kinda sucks...(he will just stand there!!), other than that its cool, this guy has more tatoos than Axl Rose!!!

Actually, Maul and the Droid look exactly like they did in the comic, and Jan Duursema is Dark Horse's very best artist.

True, I don't think Maul's training droids were close to her best artwork, but I do hope it signals a start towards doing some of her other characters like Villie and Quinlan Vos.

As to the Deluxe Figures, Luke in Bacta Tank is the only Real Value Added deluxe piece I can see. THAT is one heck of a set!

Leia is next with at the least a large accessory, but to be honest, I don't see an improvement over the old Slave Leia figure, and I'm just buying this to get the sailbarge cannon, in hopes that in the next several years or so, I'll be constructing my own sailbarge for my action figures, and this'll give me an authentic piece. Leia just goes with the scene. The set doesn't match up to Luke's.

Maul? I like the look and tattoos, and fact that he's from an actual story in the chronology, though I'd prefer new characters for EU, like Quinlan. There's no value added with the accessory or articulation that I can see. I am excited about this figure, but not thrilled with it being offered in the deluxe line. Finally, I hope this is the last Darth Maul figure we see for a few years!

Amanaman. Again, I'm really happy to be getting this figure and I voted for him in the polls. I don't see the Deluxe value in him and why he couldn't be carded. The corpse he comes with is very nicely done, but is it plastic weight in value next to a bacta tank? Is a repacked Salacious Crumb that has nothing to do with Amanaman's character?

I think some of the other posters who suggested:
Nute with Mecho-chair
Han with Torture Chair
Reikeen with Command Counsel
Luke with bionic hand and Med Table
General Dadonna with Tactical Computer
Rebel Hoth Ground Crew with Maintainence Energizer
Queen with Throne (or Purple Queen with Starship Throne)
Frog Vendor (SwokesSwokes) with Chubba Stand

and more - all would be more worth the value. Take my list, add yours, and write to Hasbro. These are all more value-added sets than Amanaman and Maul, and more exciting than another Slave Leia.

Great suggestions Tycho!

I agree, these figures are cool, even Maul to a degree, but the only one that really seems to justify "Deluxe" is Luke. That's a rare case of Hasbro giving us our money's worth!
