View Full Version : Are the carded SAGA figures falling off pegs more easily?

I've spent a month looking through figures at least twice a week and I've noticed that the Saga action figures seem to fall off their pegs far more often than any of the previous lines - I usually have a small mountain of figures by my feet when I'm done looking through the figures. Even a gentle breeze can knock these cards off a TRU or WM rod, I know they're packed together pretty closely at these retailers, but it's something else... elusive. The figures fall off the front of the pegs just as easily as they do the sides, the figures in the back will go tumbling down even if I barely nudge them.
I know the J-hooks are the same SIZE as the previous line, and while the Saga J-hook plastic protectors are smaller and wimpier than the POTJ ones, I can't imagine that's the main cause of the problem. The J-hooks, while the same size as POTJ, are no longer in the same location, perhaps that's the problem - but I would think they're moved across the card to counter the new balance of the wider bubbles. I dunno, all I know is I hate looking through rows of figures and having dozens of them fall off.

yeah ive noticed that also, it does get anoying:confused:
I know that feeling. I have been knocking figures off left and right trying to find Yoda, Dooku and HD Anakin...
Have you ever seen the kids when they go through them? There was literrally dozens of them on the floor. I feel sorry for who ever works toys at Walmart.

it's nice to know that i'm not the only one. and on top of that, whenever i'm looking through overflowing bins of pegwarmers, i always make a few of them fall to the floor without fail.

I dug through some pegs at K-Mart not long ago and didn't really have a problem, IIRC. 'Course, K-Mart's pegs are pretty close together and not really meant for digging through which you can hardly get your hand in so that might've prevented it. Haven't really seen any fallen figures elsewhere, guess the Oklahoma humidity is making them stick. :D
Well, they pack them wayyyy too tightly on the pegs, not only front to back, also because there is so little room between pegs in most of the stores 'round here. :frus:
But my best guess is that bubble depth is the main culprit here, they just seem too bulky to stay on the pegs . . . so when I "flip" through them they want to go bottoms up and fall off.

I think it might be a balance issue with the larger bubbles, I've noticed figures falling off the pegs all the time. I was beginning to think that I was just a clumsy oaf....well, okay, I still am; but I'm glad I'm not the only one.:)

You and me both! I thought for a brief second that it might just be me. I haven't had trouble with the bins for the simple reason that I absolutely refuse to go through those bins anymore. :D

Same with me. There's at least one flying through the air when I look at Star Wars figures.

i have knocked over so many figs lately that i just laugh when it happens, its ridiculous, im glad there are other people with this problem... i mean in k-mart, i honestly think that in one searching me and one of my friends knocked over 10 or so figs, without intent of course...and i mean i try to catch them, and im like, "i need some help here" and he would grab them, but some would fall, its so funny...

Anybody got other ideas as to what causes this?

This could be the weaker cards.
I usually try to clean up all the ones that have fallen off. Even if they are like that when I get there.
It tends to put the staff in a better mood.

Cripes....I really thought that I was the only one that that was happening to. Without fail, every time I look through those figures, at least one will fall, but it's usually more.
I remember a few days after the 23rd, I was in a Wal*Mart, and an employee was doing something on one end of the Star Wars stuff, so I tried to stay out of his way - I just stayed near the figures. I flipped through them, and about every three seconds, it was like: "Ahhh." "Crap." "Stay on the peg, why don't ya..." I just knew that guy was looking at me funny.
I really think it's because they jam the things so close together. If you didn't have about 50 of each figure out there, and they were a little more spread out, that problem wouldn't happen.
But what's funny is that even though they've got that many figures out, my WM still piles more out there. Only thing is they don't bother to hang them anymore, they just stand them up on an open part of the shelf now...
End :crazed:.

I've noticed a lot of fans laying figures that fall down under the pegged figures when they can, but it seems like more and more keep falling. I also thought it was due to being packed close together, but I've been to a few stores where they had ample room and STILL a few went flying.
I'm surprised we aren't seeing more TRU and WM bins because of this.
Just wait.. the bins will come. I have forseen it.

I ran into that problem today! It was funny because I read this thread days ago, and today I was dropping figures left and right!

Yea my thoughts exhactly,
I think its cause they have so much packed into such a small display. Well its not small its just that they (Walmart especially TRU) have little or no space to put them and since i think the section is confined to only one section its make it harder to put everything up.
I wish they would have used more space when putting them out, cause everytime i start looking for the figures i need i get the same problem all the front figs are fallin to my feet! Which ruins the card in most cases.

I think someone already said it. Balance, most of the figs are not balaced in their bubbles,, I have all of them haning on my wall, and half tend to hang sideways. It's rather annoying but when you lightly touch one of the many upbalanced figs the wrong way they go tumbling, and then knock others off as they fall.
