View Full Version : Hasbros avoidance of Neimodians...

I know this isn't the most timely post, what with the Lott Dodd and possible E2 Nute Gunray, but has anyone noticed hasbros avoidance at making figures of Neimodians. I realize they aren't the most exciting characters, but in E1 and E2 they are crucial to the story line. Nute is the one behind the assassination attempts on Padme, he has an army of battle droids, yet he is not in the first 50 figures, and the kids laugh at his goofy excitement on the balcony. Kids laughing=toy sales. I have to wonder if we will slowly be given figures of the separatists over the next couple years, who knows? Semi-important E1 Neimodians like Daultay Dofine and that other freak in the star ship have gone unmade. Back when E1 figures were first out, I remember talk of a 12" Nute Gunray, was this scrapped or was it rumor? Pictures?Anyway, the conclusion to my pointless post is Hasbro, get off your butt and make Neimodians, I own stock in you.

Thanks for reading, and I hope the other Neimodian fans will some out in support of more Neimodians in the Saga line.

The Episode 1 versions were too short, and didn't sell too well. Which is part of the reason Lott Dod has been withheld so long.

And if Lott isn't in scale, I'm not getting him.

(and as a fan, you might want to use the right spelling - 'neimoidian') ;)

Well, let's just hope that Hasbro puts him and any other Neimodians in scale.
But for some stuff, the Episode 1 versions look okay. I have a display with Rune and Nute next to a Holo-Sidious. Since the Sidious is shorter, they look bigger. So it looks fine .

End :).

Heck, I laugh too. :D

I dunno about Nute Gunray, his E2 hat is kinda an eye-sore.

Just put Nute in the foreground and your others in the back ground...take a picture and their you have it...Nute's taller!

If I had my way hasbro would make one of every one in the movies...but please no more Jar Jars...we've had enough!

I am not a completist. (is that even a word?) But every important figure in the movies needs to be produced...and not in silly action poses...but dignified sculpts that make a collector want to collect.

If the figure was cool...in scale or not...you'll buy it...why? Because you are a collector!

Well, the E1 line was supposed to be blessed with Lott Dod and Holographic Nute Gunray. But the retailers strong armed Hasbro, telling them that the wouldn't order any more figures if it contained Gungan, Neimodian, or Female Charecters. Hasbro is probably feeling the sting from then still, and trying to make retailers happily. Hopfully Lott Dod does come out this year as planned, and sells well so we can get the rest.

As for Darth Annexis complaint about Jar Jar, we need 2 more E2 Jar Jar's and we should be set until E3. We need a figure of him in his first outfit from the film, with the fancy epelauts. And we need a resculpt of the overly posed "Senate Address" outfit that we got already. He doesn't look right standing with Orn and Palpy the way he is now. :)

JarJarBinks...I agree we should have the figures as they are depicted in E2, definatly! Got no problem with that...I guess I should not complain...afterall Jar Jar was in what 60-70% of E1 makes sense that the made a figure for every five minutes he was on screen!

Did not mean to step on your toes...tongue....ou know what I mean..with the "JarJarBinks" name and all......

Not sure what the problem is with Lott Dodd. If anyone remembers, he was originally scheduled to come out in late Summer after the release of Episode I (along with Shmi). Eventually we got Shmi, and Dodd is still "scheduled" to be released after almost three years now.

They made 3 main E1 Jar Jar Binks figures, the one that comes packed in with the cannon doesn't count as it wasn't a basic figure. Hell, the thing could bearly be described as a figure, since he didn't have actual legs. The cinema scene one was bad also, but did have his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth a little. The first E1 figure was out of scale, and pretty crappy. The second one was the swimming version, which was a major improvement on the E1 Jar Jar, plus was good for swimming poses. The last one was the POTJ figure, with the tongue out that is the definative version of him. Just remove the tongue and he's good for 90% of the E1 scenes. :)

I am glad someone has pointed out that we really didn't get that many versions of Jar Jar from Ep1. We got two carded versions in the EP 1 line, understandable for a major character. I consider vehicle packins or cinema scenes a separate creature altogether because you are getting more than just that figure. Then, Hasbro put a great version of him in the POTJ line, again understandable that they would want to put out an improved version of a major character (something they did a lot of in the POTJ line). I think alot of people think that because they didn't like a character they don't deserve multiple figures (Some people still don't want more Ewoks). Jar Jar is in a ton of the movie and, like it or not, is now a part of the SW universe.

In terms of the Neimoidians (hope I spelled it right <g>) I have no problems with the previous figures of them. They may be a bit out of scale (something I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out) but it's not horrible. They are beautiful sculpts and really look great together. We are getting a few more later in the year which is good. The original 2 peg warmed hardcore around here, so I can see why Hasbro may avoid them. They may be badguys, but they don't actually fight, which may be a reason Hasbro doesn't want them out right now, when they are trying to push the "action" in "action figure".

Since Nute Gunray came out for Episode I, I'm sure he's not a high priority on HASBRO's list, but my guess is he'll come out eventually.

Welcome to SSG, Claw!!!

I saw your post at RTM (I'm a semi-regular there)

Interesting, I'd like a 12" Gunray as well.......hmm, maybe eventually......

if he keeps changing hats, they could do "Magical Dress-Up Nute"

with a comb, pretty shoes, and all those wild hats!!!
