View Full Version : What I want out of 35 figures for 2003!

OK, a while ago I came up with this formula for how Hasbro should space out the majority of the figures remaining for each category (that I made up too) so that we collectors could get all the figures that we want so badly. I took the non-movie standard amount of pre-Christmas season figures to be around 35 per year (carded).

I made these categories up and now I filled 'em for what I want in 2003:

These 10 standard figure categories annually:

Three cantina aliens:

1) Arcona
2) Gotal
3) Bom Vimdim

Two Jabba Palace Goons

4) J'Quille
5) Woof

Two Astromech droid repaints:

6) Orange R5 from Mos Eisley
7) Green R2-A6

One Phantom Menace Jedi Council Member

8) Yarael Poof

Two Padme / Amidala costumes

9) Senator Amidala
10) White "envoy to Geonosis" Amidala

Figures in the above categories should be made until the license expires in 2007 or later. With this formula we will have (over the next 5 years) :

Fifteen more cantina aliens
Ten more creatures from Jabba's Palace
Ten more R2, R3, R4, and R5 variations for dioramas
All five remaining Phantom Menace Jedi Council Members
Ten more Padme Amidalas out of at least 20 they could do counting TPM

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Builders

11) Rebel Alliance: New Hoth Rebel Soldier w. holster. Replaces vintage 1980
12) Rebel Pilot: B-wing pilot; white male, red squadron. Replaces 1984 figure
13) Galactic Empire: New Imperial Officer - standard grey Navy uniform - 2 heads
14) Naboo Royal Guard (white guy from Senator's ship?) black dude version?
15) Clone Trooper (ordinary infantry white, heavy articulation)

I thought about the other categories:

Bespin just got an Asian security guard last year. Wait a year, then do the black guy version.

The Grand Army just got a Gungan Warrior. Wait a year or more, then give us the parade drummer (er...maybe)

Battle Droids: We have plenty. Are the blue pilot droids really going to sell individually carded? See my cinema scene suggestions.

Galactic Empire: We just got Sandtroopers, have a stormy troop builder set, getting Bikerscouts again in the acc. packs, got black uniformed officers still in some stores... if this wasn't the army-builder category I'd say "Imperial Dignitary" but we can put him in a different category.

Geonosians: We've gotten 4 different ones. It will do. Poggle the Lesser is not in the army-builder category...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Collection 1 Heroes / Villains

16) Luke - Death Star II Jedi Knight, instead of gimmicks, remove vest & cloak!
17) Leia - end of Empire Strikes Back, medical frigate
18) Lando - end of Empire Strikes Back, Corellian Smuggler Attire
19) R2D2 - retooled lightsaber launcher w. Jabba Drink Carosel addable
20) C-3PO - with Jabba spatter & pop-out eye (on knob from behind)
21) Anakin - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
22) Obi-Wan - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
23) Obi-Wan - "Kamino Duel" - wet hair, soaked molded cloak, articulation!
24) Jango Fett - Kamino Resident - in shirt, casual attire from apartment
25) Count Dooku - "Separatist Leader" - relaxed pose, articulation

Figures there are no need for this year:

Ben Kenobi - they're all done, save for a really good soft-goods one that fits in the landspeeder

Chewbacca - we've had 4 in less than 2 years! Enough.

Han Solo - there's a trench coat in the Endor accessory pack. Do an EU Han from NJO or don't bother right now. We just got one.

Darth Vader - we got 2 last year and just got another one now. It's enough!

Darth Maul - they just did another one. Would somebody stop it?

Qui-Gon Jinn - they just did that too! They could have done a molded hood up if they wanted to be different, but it looks like junk the way they made the last one.

So that about sums the "main character" content up. Figures that I did list with numbers in "the 35" ought to be shipped in good quantities. That way there will be a Luke or Jango on the shelves for all the kiddies.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specialty Collector Figures (10 left until "35")

26) Rebel Leader: General Madine (let's get the vintage all re-done!)
27) Imperial Officer: Commander Jerjerrod (Moff? - ROTJ needs its officer)
28) Ewok of the Year: Chief Chirpa (lets get all 4 remaining remakes)
29) Republic Senator: Delegate from Kashyyyk (Wookiee - forgot name)
30) Background Extra: Gragga or SwokesSwokes (chubba seller)
31) Separatist Leader: Poggle the Lesser
32) Loyalist Party: Viceroy Bail Organa
33) Jedi Warrior: Master Yoda - normal pose. Two legs, finally!
34) Alien Leader: Lana Su - Prime Minister of Kamino
35) Hero Warrior: Dorme, - Padme's handmaiden

Now these categories are certainly debatable, but under:

Rebel Leader - we could have Capt. Antilles, Garven Dreis, General Reikeen in the future.

Imperial Officer - should have General Veers with Hoth accessories some day.

Ewoks should get a carded Paploo, but the other 3 that haven't been redone could work in a cinema scene so much better...

With the Republic Senator, Tiikes of Mon Calamari (a Quarren), a Rodian Senator, an Ithorian Senator, and more could be made.

Amongst Background Extras: Elan Sleezebagano could be done, as well as Anthony Daniels' Republic Officer and so forth, including Dexter's waitress and his wife.

Separatist Leaders will include the Techno Union dude, the Banking Clan rep, and so on...

The Loyalists probably don't include Ask Aaks, the Gran senator from Malastare, but so what. While he pushed for war, he might have changed position. Sly Moore can also move into this category.

Jedi Warrior would not be a council member necessarily, but the Asian girl, plus Barris Ofree, and normal sculpts of Kit Fisto and Luminara, plus a new one for Adi Gallia would all go over well. Mace could use a better carded figure, too.

The Alien Leader category could get a Gungan Rep Teers from Boss Nass' council, plus a new Chief Ugnaught or something later on?

The Hero Warrior category could get a little exagerrated, but a new Sio Bibble and Queen Jamilla need to go somewhere.

Now to the cinema scenes to take care of some of the others that won't sell well as single figures, or should be multi-packs:

Cantina: Tonnika Sisters and Dannick Jehrico

Jedi Council: Yaddle, Depa Billaba, Oppo Rancsis

Echo Base: General Reikeen, Major Derlin, Torryn Far - "Ion Cannon Rebel Command"

Base One: General Dadonna, Garven (Red Leader) Dreis, Rebel Astromech

Home One: General Madine, Asian Y-wing pilot (Gray Leader), black X-wing pilot (Red Squadron)

Ewok Warriors: Romba, Lumat, Warrok - gets them done!

Trade Federation Bridge: Tey How, Capt. Dauldry Dofine, blue pilot droid

The Villains: Nute Gunray soft-goods, Spider Walker w. chair, Darth Sidious Hologram

The Lars: Beru Whitesun, Owen Lars, Cliegg Lars on hoverchair

But anyway, I repeted some of the figures I want, but was more skeptical about seeing actually carded.

But let me repeat my hope for next year:

1) Arcona
2) Gotal
3) Bom Vimdim
4) J'Quille
5) Woof
6) Orange R5 from Mos Eisley
7) Green R2-A6
8) Yarael Poof
9) Senator Amidala
10) White "envoy to Geonosis" Amidala
11) Rebel Alliance: New Hoth Rebel Soldier w. holster. Replaces vintage 1980
12) Rebel Pilot: B-wing pilot; white male, red squadron. Replaces 1984 figure
13) Galactic Empire: New Imperial Officer - standard grey Navy uniform - 2 heads
14) Naboo Royal Guard (white guy from Senator's ship?) black dude version?
15) Clone Trooper (ordinary infantry white, heavy articulation)
16) Luke - Death Star II Jedi Knight, instead of gimmicks, remove vest & cloak!
17) Leia - end of Empire Strikes Back, medical frigate
18) Lando - end of Empire Strikes Back, Corellian Smuggler Attire
19) R2D2 - retooled lightsaber launcher w. Jabba Drink Carosel addable
20) C-3PO - with Jabba spatter & pop-out eye (on knob from behind)
21) Anakin - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
22) Obi-Wan - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
23) Obi-Wan - "Kamino Duel" - wet hair, soaked molded cloak, articulation!
24) Jango Fett - Kamino Resident - in shirt, casual attire from apartment
25) Count Dooku - "Separatist Leader" - relaxed pose, articulation
26) Rebel Leader: General Madine (let's get the vintage all re-done!)
27) Imperial Officer: Commander Jerjerrod (Moff? - ROTJ needs its officer)
28) Ewok of the Year: Chief Chirpa (lets get all 4 remaining remakes)

31) Separatist Leader: Poggle the Lesser
32) Loyalist Party: Viceroy Bail Organa
33) Jedi Warrior: Master Yoda - normal pose. Two legs, finally!
34) Alien Leader: Lana Su - Prime Minister of Kamino
35) Hero Warrior: Dorme, - Padme's handmaiden

Wow, that makes me want to tell Hasbro to hire you!
You read my mind with all of these figures! ;)

"Impressive. Most Impressive. The Delagate from Mark2d2 concurs with honorable representative from the Tycho System . . . "

However, I would like to add one more. R1-G4. For those of you who may be left wondering "Huh? Who?" R1 is the big black/green droid that is present at the Jawa Droid sale in ANH. He is awesome! And would make a sweet figure I am sure --- especially after seeing the bang up job that Hasbro did with FX-7 . . . .

Geeze Tyco, maybe we need you working for Hasbro, at least we would get some figs we all want to see. Good Job.

This is far to impressive Tycho. I like it but we will be lucky if we even get a quarter of those figures next year. Hasblo likes to do resculpts you know. They will probably do another Vader, Han, Snowtrooper, Tarkin, etc isntead of making a ton of new toys. However, I really like your list. Hasbro should listen to you.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Now to specifics:

MARK2D2: I'd love an R1-G4! I know exactly who you're talking about - and 'he' or 'it' had lost a Fans' Choice Poll not too long ago (to Amanaman or Ephont Mon?), but the figure still merits production. I'd buy for Purchase of the Droids & Watto's Shop.

R1-G4 (since he's one-of-a-kind next to my smaller astromech assortment choices) could get made as a background-extra figure.
Also, save for those astromechs, my list is notably short of droids. CZ-8K or whatever his name is, plus that one quite close to 8D8, but both from Jabba's Palace would be nice, as would a silver Death Star Droid from the Sandcrawler. But again, there's time. I imagine only 2005 is going to be really overtaken by singular movie characters.

JEDI JUICE: the list took about 20 minutes to really think about it. I had the formula worked out before because POTJ came really, really close, as did this year's POTJ/Saga toys transition. I'll make another less interesting list, but show you how they did. But first I've got one more comment I wanted to address.

PLO KOON: Hasbro likes to market recognizable characters that kids would go for, as well as the casual person that wants to pick up a few characters as novelty items. They couldn't tell you what Dice Ebegon looks like, but if you ask them if they want to get some SW toys and they say yes, then Anakin, Obi-Wan, Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker will be on the top of their list. As collectors looking for new, never-before-made stuff (a large part of the reason why we're so into collecting now since it's way better than when we were kids) we, and myself especially, find it hard to tolerate the resculpts. It's part of what prompted me to write those silly "Script To Episode...yadayadayada something Resculpts" in the POTJ section. Those could only be as stupid as some of their case assortments. But as I'll soon show you, it has gotten a bit better. However, if you note the list above, I did give them 10 main characters, some which are resculpts, some which are not:

16) Luke - Death Star II Jedi Knight, instead of gimmicks, remove vest & cloak!
17) Leia - end of Empire Strikes Back, medical frigate
18) Lando - end of Empire Strikes Back, Corellian Smuggler Attire
19) R2D2 - retooled lightsaber launcher w. Jabba Drink Carosel addable
20) C-3PO - with Jabba spatter & pop-out eye (on knob from behind)
21) Anakin - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
22) Obi-Wan - "Jedi Council" - relaxed pose, molded cloak
23) Obi-Wan - "Kamino Duel" - wet hair, soaked molded cloak, articulation!
24) Jango Fett - Kamino Resident - in shirt, casual attire from apartment
25) Count Dooku - "Separatist Leader" - relaxed pose, articulation

That should satisfy their need to have recognizable characters on the rack. 8 good guys and 2 bad guys are included in this group here - and all of those figures (I'm guessing) we all would want.

Anyway, I'll do another post and look back at 2002 and 2001....

Battle Droid
06-05-2002, 02:47 AM
I'd rather have a carded Pilot Battle Droid because I'd want more than 1, and I don't wanna have to buy that many Cinema Scenes, and carded figures are made better than Cinema Scene figures.

This is how THIS YEAR fits into the scheme of things:

These 10 standard figure categories annually:

Three cantina aliens:

1) Bo Shek
2) Djas Puhr
3) ???????????? (should've had 1 more!)

Two Jabba Palace Goons

4) Ephont Mon
5) ???????????? (should've had 1 more!)

Two Astromech droid repaints:

6) R4-M9
7) R3-T7

One Phantom Menace Jedi Council Member

8) Plo Koon (Arena)

X1) SaeSee Tiin
X2) Ki-Adi Mundi (not yet released)

Two Padme / Amidala costumes

9) Padme Arena Battle
10) Padme Coruscant Attack (Pilot)

Well, we still have Ten figures in this category, but we do only have seven of the twelve Phantom Menace Jedi Council Members and yet we got 3 of them resculpted already. OK, I'll give them that Plo Koon and SaeSee were awesome resculpts, but what's next? Are they going to resculpt Adi Gallia? Most wouldn't mind if they made Eeth Koth in a non-action pose, but enough of them is enough.

Mace and Yoda are more like secondary characters and they got two Saga Figures already for each of them.

So the Jedi Council was not that well-covered (in a way). Shaak-Ti replaces Yaddle on the Episode 2 Council so we have eight of the twelve there.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Builders

11) Rebel Alliance: Endor Rebel Soldier

12) Rebel Pilot: Dak Ralter count? I guess not since he's not carded. We are getting an EchoBase groundscrewman in the acc. pack, so this category is not exactly neglected. Even if we dreamt they did a new sculpt.

13) Galactic Empire: Stormtrooper 4-pack, Death Star Trooper in the Acc Pack, Bikerscout in the Acc Pack.

14) Local Army Builder: Geonosian Warrior

X3) Massif w. Geonosian

15) Clone Trooper: Artillery captain

X4) Clone Commander

X5) Clone Trooper - sneak preview (infantry)

X6) Tusken Mother w. Child

X7) Tusken Raider w. Massif

X8) Battle Droid (Arena Battle)

x9) Super Battle Droid

x10) Chancellor's Guard (Royal Guard)

Again, with Bespin and Gungan figures, we just got some the previous year, so we're doing alright. They got out what was needed this year, a movie year, and the Troop Building category has 15 figures falling into this category, versus my recommended 5! Good job Hasbro!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Collection 1 Heroes / Villains

16) Luke - Bespin Duel
17) Vader - Bespin Duel
18) Han Solo - Endor Shield Generator
19) R2D2 - Coruscant Sentry
20) C-3PO - "complete Threepio" (plus the deluxe is something special)
21) Anakin - Freighter
X11) Anakin - Hanger Duel
x12) Anakin -Tatooine Attack
22) Obi-Wan - Coruscant Chase
23) Obi-Wan - Jedi Starfighter Pilot
24) Jango Fett - Sneak Preview
x13) Jango Fett - Kamino Escape (RH)
x14) Jango Fett - Final Battle (Flamethrower)
25) Count Dooku - Dark Lord
x15) Qui-Gon Jinn - blah resculpt
x16) Darth Maul - another cookoo concept (not THAT bad looking, but...)
x17) Chewbacca Bespin Escape
x18) Boba Fett
x19) JarJar Senator

Notably missing in 2002 is: Leia & Lando

I took the Classic "main characters" to be Han, Luke, Leia, Lando, Chewie, Vader, with R2D2, C-3PO, Obi-Wan and Boba Fett overlapping AOTC and / or TPM as well.

I took TPM / AOTC "main characters" to be Qui-Gon, Anakin, JarJar, Darth Maul, Jango Fett, Count Dooku

But we actually got 9 more figures in this category than we 'normally should have.'
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specialty Collector Figures (10 left until "35")

26) Rebel Leader: ????????????
27) Imperial Officer: ??????????
28) Ewok of the Year: Teebo
29) Republic Senator: Chancellor Palpatine!
30) Background Extra: a Nitko Jedi!
31) Separatist Leader: Lott Dodd (coming soon)
32) Loyalist Party: Senator Orm Free Ta
33) Jedi Warrior: Master Yoda
X20) Jedi Warrior: Luminara
X21) Jedi Warrior: Shaak-Ti
x22) Jedi Warrior: Kit Fisto
x23) Jedi Warrior: Mace Windu
34) Alien Leader: Taun We
35) Hero Warrior: Captain Typho
x24 Background Character: Dexter Jettster
X25) Background Character: Zam Wessel Sneak Preview
X26) Background Character: Zam Wessel Bounty Hunter
x27) Background Character: Teemto Pegules - Pod Racer
x28) Background Character: Watto
x29) Army Builder Extra I forgot: Destroyer Droid
x30) Main Character I forgot: Jango Fett Pilot

So to recap: we are only missing 4 figures beyond any argument that we're not. One alien a piece from the cantina and Jabba's Palace, and one Imperial Officer and one Rebel Officer.

We got 28 more figures than the agreed upon "average of 35" (when you subtract the missing 4 that can't take substitutes and count the scout and DS Trooper besisdes the stormtrooper)meaning we've had / or are getting 63 SIXTY-THREE plus Carded Figures this year, when you include the sneak preview and the last 3 POTJ, and look at the accessory set figures as something noteworthy to cover the troop builder categories. That does not even count the deluxe figures (which for this 'regular assortment system does not take into account anyway).

These numbers worked out, too. Hasbro said there'd be 52 saga figures this year, and then there's 4 sneak preview, 3 POTJ, I counted 3 accessory sets where necessary, and I allowed 1 stormtrooper from the 4-pack to count. I purposely left out the Battle Droid acc pack too, as it's not significantly different from the carded one.

Dang! That's a lot of figures and a way to fill in the categories. I suppose the only complaint you could have about 2002 was that it did not respect Jabba's Palace and the Cantina to their full potential.

Otherwise, not bad! (and we still don't know what Christmas time will bring - this list is up to date until about August.)

Tycho

By way of comparison, this was 2001

These 10 standard figure categories annually:

Three cantina aliens:

1) Duro
2) Ketwal
3) Zutton

Two Jabba Palace Goons

4) Tessek
5) Amanaman

Two Astromech droid repaints:

6) R2-Q5
7) ?????????

One Phantom Menace Jedi Council Member

8) Plo Koon

X1) SaeSee Tiin
X2) Eeth Koth

Two Padme / Amidala costumes

9) Theed Throne
10) Black Travel

This year inspired my formula. It works almost perfectly here in the first ten, save for we've lost 1 astromech droid, but have 11 figures anyway. (no, R2-B1 was from 2000, the year that started with E1 cards, and then had mostly resculpts for POTJ with the last wave shipping being Han Bespin Capture / Bikerscout for Collection 1, and Sebulba / 2 Headed Announcer for C2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Builders

11) Rebel Alliance: Mon Calamari Soldier

12) Rebel Alliance: Rebel Fleet Trooper

13) Galactic Empire: Sandtrooper

14) Galactic Empire: Imperial Officer

15) Local Army Builder: Asian Bespin Security Guard

This category works out pretty cool. We don't have a lot of categories - but there are 5 army builder figures: 2 rebels, 2 Imperials, and 1 Bespin Wing Guard! And it works! Everyone liked getting these figures.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Collection 1 Heroes / Villains

16) Luke - Bacta Tank

x3) Luke X-wing

17) Vader - Emperor's Wrath

18) Han Solo - Death Star Escape

19) Princess Leia - Bespin Escape

x4) Slave Leia - Sailbarge cannon

20) JarJar Binks - Tatooine

21) Lando Calrissian - Bespin Escape

X5) Qui-Gon Jinn - Jedi Armor

22) Obi-Wan - Cold Weather Gear

23) Obi-Wan - Jedi Armor

24) Darth Maul - concept Sith Apprentice

X6) Darth Maul - shirtless

25) Chewbacca - Millennium Falcon Mechanic

This time, there were no figures for R2D2, C-3PO, or Boba Fett.
AOTC's newly added main characters obviously don't apply to 2001's assortment.

We did get 14 figures. And while the concept figures or other expanded universe ideas were controversial, they were mostly well-received. But that also meant that there were two showings for Obi-Wan, and likewise the same went for Darth Maul. This category only needs 10 figures if my formula is strictly interpreted, so not only did the main characters have extra figures in 2001, there was duplication. Likewise for Luke and Leia. But we still didn't get a never-made-before movie Lando, and I've pointed out in previous posts to this thread, that R2D2 and C-3PO still had some intelligent versions left that have not yet been marketed. Instead, Maul, Obi-Wan, Luke, and Leia were re-marketed. Fortunately, these figures enjoyed sales and did not pegwarm.

I'll give the Leia soft-goods with the Sailbarge Cannon a break, since I assume she can lie down. (I didn't open her and won't until I build a huge, freaking sailbarge for all my Jabba-action-figures, or Hasbro makes something I'm satisfied with). And if not for the X-wing Luke, his only showing would be a Deluxe - which I decided to count this time because Amanaman counted so he could get onboard the Jabba The Hutt alien category.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specialty Collector Figures (10 left until "35")

26) Rebel Leader: K-3PO is at least a Rebel, and droids are cool!
27) Imperial Officer: ??????????
28) Ewok of the Year: ?????????
29) Republic Senator: ????????
30) Background Extra: Aurra Sing
31) Background Character: ??????
32) Heroes Party (sort of): Shmi Skywalker
33) Rebel Hero (sort of): FX-7
34) Alien Extra : IG-88 (this was a great year for droids!)
35) Hero Warrior: Sabe (and a good year for women figures!)

So 6 out of 10 figures were made - the main character category eroding into what we could have had added to these listings. These could have included the Chubba Seller, the Wookiee Senator, Chief Chirpa, and General Veers. But we got Obi-Wan Jedi Armor (or Cold Weather - take your pick) and Darth Maul Shirtless (or Concept Art - take your pick).

I have to say I like both Obi-Wan's. The later armored one goes good with the Qui-Gon, but I'd rather see EU characters from the comics and books. That being said, the Shirtless Maul was great. I'm still trying to return or sell that Concept Art Maul. Yuck! Never should have bought that one! Heh-he.

And to wrap things up, we got 36 figures instead of 35, so I can just pretend that one Maul never existed, and I'll be quite satisfied.

But this year, POTJ's main strong-showing, inspired my formula for Hasbro's perfect assortments and I hope somebody over there in marketing does something similar to this, or sees this thread and takes it to heart.

Just wondering but you do know the POTF2 Hoth Rebel Commander is the same as the Vintage Hoth Commander? There are changes but it's pretty much the same dude. Looks like they tried to make the Luke body + commander head from the accessory pack to be the other vintage Hoth guy, although we need a new sculpt for that cause the accessory pack one is just too alien once you realize it's the head from the commander. :D

Very awesome lists though Tycho, I'm sure we'll get some of those figures, but not like that.

Althoughg, you couldn't just have them make all the good figures between now and the end of the license and then have them make the tail-end of the line devoted to the Padme figures? It wouldn't matter if they're peg-warmers if the license runs out after the last one is made and released. ;)

All I really want to see is another Chewie with a bowcaster this time, maybe make him the Endor version and give him the Ewok Dead Animal bait and a giant net for accessories.

Plus a new Darth Vader Removable Helmet. Fully loaded with double cloth cape, two-piece removable helmet, removable hand, lightsaber with removable blade, and a generous amount of articulation to include ball-socket shoulders.

AND an ANH Threepio who is correctly proportioned this time, is the correct shade of gold and has bendable knees (never understood why he couldn't have bendable knees when the joints are sculpted right onto the figure).

That's it, that's all I need for the entire year.:) Oh yeah, Hermie Odle, Yaddle and a couple of new Ep2 Yodas would be cool too.

I would like to see:

1. R2D2 w/ serving tray (ROTJ)
2. Anakin w/ mechanical arm (AOTC)
3. Imperial Dignitary (ROTJ)

The list could go on for pages (many of which have already been listed above), but I'll just hope for these 3 to be made within the next year.

Well, we all are going to lobby for (or against) our nitpicks to the list now, like we'd do to any 'real' assortment.

LTBasker: The Hoth Accessory pack figure just doesn't do it for me! I let it cover the Rebel Army Builder for 2002, but in 2003 you'll note I said we have to have this guy completey resculpted.
The current Acc packed figure looks like something any beginning customizer could make. Plus the Luke Hoth body is not up to standards for current figures, right? A holster that actually holds a Rebel Fleet Trooper style of gun would be awesome, as would be a separate piece for the vest that hangs better, similar to Cantina Han's fit, though not the same color and style obviously. So if and when I write a poll for the Rebel Soldier in my vintage redo series, I'll ask if people are satisfied with this acc pack figure to cover the 1980 sculpt. The goatee, and this applies to every Hoth Soldier with one, vintage and modern, is just too distinguishable feature for an army builder. The modern line has two infantrymen, and the one with the radar dish cannon (deluxe) was the better pick. Goatee guy makes the trench look like Attack of the Clones.

BigBarada: Are you a "main character guy?" Just curious. It's cool you want that Chewie and Vader, but there have been 4 Chewie's in 2 years: w.3PO, 25th Anniv. w. Han, Mechanic, Dejerrik Champion. He never changes "outfits" and we don't have a Wookiee senator? As to Vader, it sounds like an awesome idea for a deluxe "definitive Vader." But what did you think about all the other figures that could be done? Do you want those as well, or are you only out looking for better versions of Chewie, Vader, and C-3PO (the last of which I suggested a Jabba's Palace version since we have 4 versions from ANH: original, Coin, Removeable Arm, Purchase of the Droids).

Kieth Koth: did you see my idea for R2 with the serving tray (I called it a drink dispenser or something). It would be an attachable accessory to a new lightsaber launching R2 that's sculpted right. Seeing as how collection 1 still has action features, this R2 would actually be welcomed by the fans I'm guessing. Now Anakin with the mechanical arm might make a great E3 figure, or if they are going to do Padme's outfits, why not make a Padme Amidala collection, like the Leia Collection, but avoid some of the errors they made with the soft-goods figures, as well as the error they made in limiting their articulation. Then Anakin would come with Padme from the wedding. Finally, the Imperial Dignitary might be made for the end of this year according to a rumor thread that's going around with a supposed Wal*Mart computer list or something - like they planned the Dignitary to win the Fans' Choice Poll and the Sketchtrooper surprised them.

I think that's good news for Reikeen's fans, because the Rebel General did better than the Dignitary, if only for one percentage point in the poll. But if they don't have a Dignitary planned for some reason, he could replace Jerjerrod on my Imperial Officer category for one year. With only the ROTJ commander and Veers on the list, I was going to suggest "taking it EU" and making Capt. Palleon (over Ozzel or Needa who are actually less important than Grand Admiral Thrawn's right hand man).

Oh well. My list didn't leave any room for EU, but I suggest getting the movie figures taken care of first, as they'd be more popular, then filling in certain categories with EU versus making waves out of them (for the time being). If not, doing 10 EU and making 45 figures a year instead of some of these Deluxe would be much better than flipping figures, and other cases where they are the same character.

I admit to being a "main character guy" myself, so here goes (damn the torpedoes!):

1)Obi-Wan, neutral pose with robes
2)Obi-Wan final duel (fairly neutral pose)
3)Anakin neutral pose with robes
4)New Jedi Luke (with cloak,)
5)Deluxe Luke Jedi (with endor gear, Jedi Robes, and blaster from Jabba's palace)

comment: I realize that both the above would never happen concurrently, but one can dream.

6)New Snowtrooper
7)New Han Hoth (will they ever get it right?)
8)New Yoda from ESB w/o a hole running through his body (preferably with cloth robes and TWO legs)

9)12" Ultimate Luke Jedi, with the same accessories as my requested Deluxe Luke 3 3/4"er.

Above all else: NO ACTION FEATURES OR EXAGERATED POSES!

That is about it for me!

Yes to 21-25!!!I'm hoping Hasbro( ) will make these soon.I doubt it though, since Hasbro seems to favor extreme poses as opposed to neutral posed figures.

I guess I kind of am a "main-character guy." I never really saw the point of every single extra in the movies getting an action figure. Sure I want some of the cooler background characters, like Ephant Mon or Hermi Odle; but overall I'm just not too interested in seeing them all made.

In any case, I have just never seen any version of Chewie, Vader or Threepio that I would consider definitive. THe upcoming CC CHewie is close; but he has no bowcaster. Any Vader with a plastic cape automatically loses definitive status with me. And Threepio needs a resculpt badly. Artoo would be on that list too if Hasbro hadn't released the Holo Leia version.

Well they think the kids "like" them, I guess their childhood only consisted of figures made of lead. ;)

BB, hopefully the Deluxe 3PO soon to come out is a sign of a very good Trilogy 3PO - wouldn't hold my breath though.

I want to see a figure of the girl in the bar in EP2 when Anikan and Obi Wan chase after Zam. She would be neat....
