First off, I must say that these forums are the most calm, and laid-back forums out there. I am very impressed that everything is kept under control. Personally, am pretty neutral in profanity in forums, it really doesn’t bother me at all, but I don’t like it when it’s over-used, even though I use it on occasion. For some reason though, I have only used a very small few times here, and I think it was al in topics about scalpers. ;) I have to thank everyone here for his or her restraint in posting stuff like that.

This comes after Big B’s post on the lack of [ img] code. I just want to know why we don’t have it, I don’t know if it’s because you are afraid people will post porno pics with it, or something like that, but honestly, I don’t think anyone would dare to do it.

The only reason I am posting this thread is to get an honest answer on why we don’t have it, as that didn’t happen in Big B’s thread, for whatever reason. If it’s because you are afraid of the loading times, I would like to say that I am on 56k, and I would prefer that we have the [ img] coding. It saves me having to follow other links around, and having a whole bunch of windows open. Also, we could add our own smilies right into the posts. This can be very handy, especially since you have a limited selection here. ;)

For those of you that don’t know what it is, you can instead of finding a picture online, saving it to your hard-drive, then attaching it, (after re-sizing, if necessary) you can just right-click on it, and hit properties to get the url for it. Then, all you have to do is paste the link in the window like so: [ img]http://whatever.com[/img ] and the image would show up right in the post.

Is there any way that we could just try it out for maybe a month, and see how it goes?

Jason, thanks for the nice words about the site, hopefully even with all these new posters, it will remain a fun and calm and cool place to hang out for us SW fans. :)

As for the img code, I'm afraid we already had a problem with porn pics being posted a while back, people couldn't contain themselves or made mistakes about which image they had in their clipboard that they couldn't correct once they posted which put the entire site in jeopardy.

I can't speak for BB's thread, as I honestly don't remember the thread and I don't like speaking for SirSteve on matters like this unless it's neccessary... ok, I see the thread now and Steve was busy with personal matters when it came up. If someone brought it back to the top in a day or 2, it'd stand a better chance of getting an "official" response. :D

I figured I was just being ignored.

;)

I guess I can see the problem with porno picks being posted. Hadn't really thought about that.

Why do all of Jason B's posts seem to have the "Last smacked down by JT" part at the bottom? It looks like an edit, but I noticed it a few other times today. Is Jason B just getting out of hand? :D Seriously though, just a curiosity . . .

I think it's just his signature. He used to have a line there that said it was last edited by Sir Steve. I checked his past posts that had that, and they have changed to the new "smacked down" one, proving it's a signature. Pretty funny actually. :)

I have it set so the img tag does not work within an article. Why? Because it gets abused. I personally don't want a large image in the middle of a thread. If I want to see it, I will click the attachement link.
