• Gentle Giant's SDCC '12 Display Walkthrough

About a week ago at Comic-Con International in San Diego, we had the pleasure of a guided tour of Gentle Giant, ltd's fantastic booth display. Updated with a gleaming new look of riveted metal and '50s sci-fi, the Star Wars pieces on display stood out nicely while keeping an eye on their roots.

      - Darth Maul spider body statue, inspired by the Clone Wars season 4 finale but expressed in a realistic style. Price is TBD.

      - The Death Trooper statue is in production now.

      - AOTC Clone Lieutenant statue (the blue-stripes one) is one of Gentle Giant's 2 Celebration VI exclusives. While a static piece, it is based on their mainline AOTC Clone Trooper deluxe statue.

      - Speaking of, the next piece is their mainline AOTC Clone Trooper deluxe statue, deluxe because it comes with multiple interchangeable parts.

      - Moving on to Mini-Busts, there's the Pilot Droid and Security Droid mini-busts, both will have sound chips just like the regular Battle Droid mini-bust.

      - Ree-Yees is a deluxe mini-bust, he'll come with an interchangeable hand, 1 holding a blaster and 1 without.

      - Republic Commando deluxe mini-bust, he lights up.

      - Nien Nunb mini-bust is a regular release, an all-new sculpt of his B-wing outfit.

      - The Rebel Fleet Trooper mini-bust is their Premier Guild Member gift.

      - Wald mini-bust is going to be packaged as a duo, but not Kitster. It's later revealed at their panel that he's going to be packed in the holiday version of the Jar Jar mini-bust, wearing a santa hat and christmas lights.

      - Sy Snootles and Droopy McCool mini-busts were also shown, while Gentle Giant is going to display Max Rebo at Celebration VI.

      - Jar Jar mini-bust exists due to popular demand, the fans wanted it and Gentle Giant had to deliver. (Perhaps haters could post their slow-motion videos of them destroying the Jar Jar mini-bust.)

      - Moving on, there's the Darth Malak Maquette from Knights of the Old Republic, he'll part of Gentle Giant's 7-inch statuette line.

      - Latest editions to their Animated Maquette line include a Sandtrooper on Dewback, and a Biker Scout being assaulted by Ewoks - that one is a lot of fun.

      - On display is the first of 2 versions of Gentle Giant's AT-AT bookends, this one is the larger split-in-half AT-AT Walker as a bookend. It was mentioned that down the road will also be 2 smaller, whole AT-ATs back to back, that's just waiting for approval.

      - On the other side of the booth is Gentle Giant's 12-inch retro Star Wars figures, designed to be upscale versions of the classic Kenner figures. Noteworthy elements of this display include Blue Snaggletooth, Lando Calrissian, the Gamorrean Guard, and a large version of the classic cardboard Cantina playset.

      - The Cantina cardboard playset in the display is actually being produced, it will be offered at the end of the year.

      - Lando is being produced out of original Kenner order because it's their Celebration VI exclusive, it'll be "Lando for Orlando" (a pun some enjoy while others feel is just awful, but that's the nature of puns).

You can see all of these items in our SDCC 2012 Gentle Giant Photo coverage.
