• Angry Birds Star Wars - Ep V: Hoth Released Today

      The first 20 levels of Angry Birds Star Wars - Episode V: Hoth have already been released as an update to the iOS and Android versions of the game, and for the PC version later today. The game introduces the Princess Leia bird, who has an aimed tractor beam ability, adding a strategic twist to the regular Angry Birds pink bird's contact bubble ability.

      Aside from the cute video above, Rovio also released a gameplay trailer, and includes a quick peek at the game's first AT-AT level, Hoth 6 (game level 3-6):

      (Protip: the level can be 3-starred using just the first bird, Han Solo bird, firing at the wood block and snow in front of the AT-AT foot.)

        It occurred to me about 1 second after I clicked "update" in my tablet that I hadn't gotten 3-stars on all the Tatooine and Death Star levels yet, so I might have to 3-star all the Hoth levels as well to unlock the Dagobah level for free. D'oh!

        For now I'm playing the Hoth levels and they're fun, the Leia bird IMO is in some ways more strategic than the original Pink bird, but Leia bird's tractor beam ability doesn't seem to grab more than 3 objects at a time while the Pink bird's ability simply bubbled anything that was within contact distance when tapped.

        That "protip" at the end of the article was a nice accidental discovery I made while trying to clear out that obstacle with Han so I could use Leia's power the same way as shown in the trailer.
