Free Shipping at Hasbro Toy Shop on St. Patricks Day

A pretty cool promo, HTS's shipping costs are generally what keep me from ordering more from them. Unfortunately, today there's not much in stock that I want, everything's sold out.

They're cleaned out of a lot of stuff. They had the AOTC Senate Guard for $8.99. I had him in my cart. At the last minute, I balked. Having finally seen (and been really disappointed by) Peasant Anakin, I decided that the lackluster figures and price hike marks a great point to stop collecting all but the coolest and most necessary AOTC and ROTS figures. (I will not pass on Barriss. Never ever ever.) They were also out of Grappelle and the Cobra Shadow Tracker.

I did get the latest resculpts of Storm Shadow, Duke, and Destro.

Well, the Senate Guard is also a TPM figure - he's much more prominent in that film anyway.

I don't think the Anakin is that bad, but with all the photo galleries online, I don't know why people are being disappointed in-store. The face sculpt isn't great, but it's not that bad.

Anyway, I didn't see this link until just now, somehow, but I don't think they have much I need anyway.

I'm in the same boat, Chux, I saw that Anakin and it caused me to rethink what I was buying. I not only didn't buy Anakin, I put back one of the 2 Senate Guards I was buying, and realized that, with the price hikes and the cost of trying to find figures for 3 months with almost no success, I'm going to buy only figures that really do it for me.

"Not that bad" on a $9 figure isn't really acceptable anymore. Hasbro has said they want these TVC figures to be the final versions, the ones that don't need to be revisited after this. For a figure to MSRP that high and be packaged next to a huge portrait of the character, it cannot sit in the "not that bad" territory without being perceived as disappointing. It's got a big head, yet with all that canvas it still looks nothing like the character. The hair is still the wrong color, and the head is shiny. The cloak is cheap material and cut wrong at the neckline. The expression is angry frowny which doesn't match the source material for the character in this costume. And it's not tall enough to boot, despite the oversized head. So it seems entirely understandable to me to be disappointing in-store.

JT, I can understand some of your points, but the poncho being "cut wrong at the neckline" is a misunderstanding brought about by the fact that it's packaged backward on him. When you open it and turn it around, it looks fine.

No, it's still too high when you turn it around. It should go down to his sternum. I know this because there's a GIANT picture of it right next to the figure. The figure's sloppy neckline cut doesn't even go past his cravat.

Oh, silly me, going off of the figure that I actually own instead of going off of photos of it online.
