• A New Hope Opening Crawl Recreated in HTML

This one is as much for the web-nerds out there as it is the Star Wars geeks, but the fact that someone recreated the A New Hope 1977-version crawl using only HTML, CSS, Javascript and a couple handy files (the SW logo as a graphic and the opening theme audio) is darned impressive.

Tim Pietrusky, a web developer in Germany, was looking to find a web version of the crawl, but since none existed like this, he considered the code gauntlet slapped down and took up the challenge. What resulted was genius both from execution and from a technical standpoint, and then he made all that code public for you and I to enjoy.

As nicely as this rendered on this reporter's PC, it looked even better on my iOS and Android devices, which is saying a lot because that's a tricky bit of code to render for a mobile device. Yet the work is tight enough to execute even on a previous-gen iPod Touch, so kudos to Mr. Pietrusky for some mighty fine Star Wars-themed webwork.

You can check out the crawl itself by clicking here to visit the Star Wars crawl page on Tim's site, and for you code nerds he's kindly linked to his CodePen entry on it.

      Pro football? AGAIN?!? Oh yeah!

NFL draft this year seemed more ho-hum to me. Steelers got some guys, other teams got some other guys, a guy from Germany is a Viking now.

I knew that PVC fumes were something to avoid if you were heating it up or cutting, but I wasn't aware of the "outgassing" that occurs over

      4:20? Try 11:38!

Was at a racing event yesterday, and tried to get a 1138 somehow in the times on the clock: this was the closest (spoiler: no cigar).

The rain throughout the day had a minor effect on what was done (but it never poured, mostly sprinkling). Out for recycling (thankfully, a break in rain),

Power Play! NHL 13-14 (and beyond?)

PIT v. WAS is even at one a piece. If it goes 7, that will be an epic game. But I'm hoping it'll end in 6, so the Penguins' home fans can enjoy the handshake

I know what you mean. Life-size statues and collectibles are always impressive in person. I used to have my SDS Stormie armor for 5 years already on

      The Force Awakens Micro Machines!!!

Part 1 has a small mistake, the Gunship is from ROTJ. Also, and I know this is controversial for some folks, but I purchased SWMM and Star Trek MM 3 packs
