Hasbro Star Wars SDCC 2011 Panel

Thanks for the great reporting. I'm super stoked for the TPM love next year. But where's a Vintage Jar Jar? But still, three new pod racers and G8-R3 knock off a lot of needed figures. I'm also looking forward to the ROTJ deleted scenes figures; thankfully we only had to wait a few hours after finding out about the Mon Cal pilot character to get the announcement of a figure. Hopefully the slideshow will make its way up here soon.

Huh.Well... I'll be getting Darth Maul, but other than that I'm not interested in too many of the Episode I figures outside of the R5 droid that's a walmart exclusive. So everything else besides those two figures for TPM is an easy pass. Going to be saving some money next year it looks like!Outside of that, I do want the mon cal pilot. We don't have near enough alien pilots as it is. Some of the figures on Revenge cards I want that I missed the first time around, some loose some carded, and Bastila is a definate one for loose and carded.The Y-wing, luke's speeder, and the new speeder bike (unseen) I want.The only Clone Wars thing I saw that I want is the AT-RT... and I'll probably toss the figure and use the walker for my AT-RT driver.Outside of that there really wasn't all that much that I want.Looking at it as a whole I have to admit that a lot of what i don't want is simply because I have had to scail back what I buy due to prices and room. So I suppose it's not too dissapointing.

I'm really disappointed that they claim only 50% of the figures in the Vintage line this year will be newly tooled (though once the "Revenge" figures are counted out, that might explain most of the rehashed figures so it's not a huge loss). I'm interested in all of the new figures revealed but there are a few I wonder about like the TPM Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul. Maul in particular needs to be resculpted for SA and if the Qui-Gon or Obi have ball jointed hips it would make them "new enough" but I doubt they'll have that. Also, not sure why they decided to redo the TPM Darth Sidious, for my money that is their best attempt at the Emperor/Darth Sidious character they've ever done. The "deleted scenes" wave makes me wonder about the Luke and Lando figures. What, if anything, about them is new? I find it frustrating that the Walmart exclusive wave has two really good army builders in it too (the Gungan and Naboo Pilot).

And how come no FX lightsabers? Is that line being killed off now? I thought Kit Fisto was a bizarre choice, is it possible some one was just trying to slip in a pet favorite before folding the line?

Lastly, the TFU II pack is the dumbest thing ever. Sure, I'm biased because I only played the Xbox version but only one of those four characters appear in the version I played and I already bought him! Why not release characters that appear in ALL versions of the game?

Neuro mentioned a new speederbike but I read in today's Q&A at Snowtroopers.ca that it didn't make it into the assortment this year (in fact they say next year so I'm not sure if that means the rest of 2011 or through 2012, bad news either way) so I'm not sure where that rumor came from. All in all, I think this was a very anti-climactic reveal and the fact that they're saving things for NYCC in October makes me hope there's more (like the Naboo Starfighter they also confirmed in a Q&A today) but overall, this didn't blow my socks off.

Finally, a Ben Quadrinaros figure! (I thought they said they were never going to make him?) I've wanted a figure of him since I first saw the movie, now many years later it will be mine!

bikerscout asked during the Q&A if a new Speeder Bike was in the plans. They answered "yes" unanimously, but there's not a concrete confirmation yet.
