Exactly 6 years to the day following the release of the original Star Wars film at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Episode VI - Return of the Jedi was released up a block east on the opposite side of the street at the Grauman's Egyptian Theater. News just in from Lucasfilm and Disney reports on a new animated Star Wars tv show, Star Wars Rebels. The Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni will be executive producer on this series, along with Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, Young Justice) and Simon Kinberg (Ep VII, X-Men First Class, Sherlock Holmes). The show will take place between Episode III and IV, it will be CG and will borrow from Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie's iconic designs. Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD with a one-hour special on Disney Channel first, and is looking to release in fall of 2014. More details and a video below.
