Lucasfilm announced today that in celebration of the September launch of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, it is linking up with celebrities, eBay and Major League Baseball to ask fans to Use the Force for Good to support Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). SU2C funds groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.

Just had an unpleasant little chat with the manager of one of my local Toys R Us stores. I had intended to buy about $90 of stuff with the 30% off Star Wars sale, but they weren't honoring the ad. A celebration of the culture phenomenon that is Star Wars, "Art From a Galaxy Far Far Away" will showcase artwork inspired by the 1977 film, its sequels, prequels and the litany of auxiliary characters created by George Lucas. Professional illustrator and painter Randy Martinez and Denise Vasquez will be showing their Star Wars-inspired works at Hold Up Art from August 20 to September 15, 2011.

Time Magazine has compiled a list of the 20 worst summer blockbusters of all time, and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was ranked second on that list, just behind 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
