Is the carbonite block transparent plastic and hollowed out so that Han can be put in, allowing you to see him trapped in carbonite? Or is it a solid plastic piece like the rehashed POTF2 versions? Thanks!

It is a translucent plactis, that allows you to see Han through the plastic.
Han's arms are down, not up like in the film, when you put him behind the carbonite. If I recall correctly, the carbonite is a carmel brown color, too.
