That one is even better, very nifty. Didn't notice the TV that much, I was paying attention to the fig. :p I like that you gave a good look at the bot mode doing something, gave it more context. Plus, since I don't have this figure yet, it's the first time I've seen it transform. :D When you get a little more into this, try adding radial motion blur to the spinning blade pics to give them an added sense of motion, stop-motion doesn't play well with fast-spinning blades.
Black is unbelievably difficult to photograph, in the movie something like the Batmobile will actually be painted dark purple which appears black in the lens but still shows off its details. That's one of the reasons I've stopped making LEGO sets in all black the way I did as a kid.
I was skimming through the Transformers toy fair coverage on another site, and so far the only new TF products I might buy in the next year will be that deluxe galvatron and probably that ultra powerglide (depending on more photos of th alt. mode). Looks like it will be a fairly slow year for my toy collection. With the lack of promising new titanium vehicles and transformers the only thing I really have to look forward to so far are the new McFarlane Halo figures.
Powerglide is awesome!!! It might end up being my favorite from the Classics line, knocking Jetfire off of the top spot.
Tankor should've been a Voyager class, at the very least but oh well. At any rate, I'll be spending a lot of money on Classics, Animated and Robot Heroes. I really want that Animated Slag the same way that many SSG'ers want the AT-TE.
I wish I had time to check that stuff out, been working the Star Wars material Steve shot pretty much all day. He'll have TF coverage at some point soon, I am pretty sure he shot it today as well.
Classics Prowl is pretty much perfect. I'm pretty much getting all of wave one. I might even get Voyager repaints, but I'm still iffy on them. WHY IS GALVATRON A DELUXE?! DUMB!
The Supreme Roll-Out Command Optimus Prime is all gimmick no figure it seems. The only animated figures I really want at this point are Prowl, Jazz, and Earthmode Leader Megatron. Voyager Prime I'm on the fence.
Powerglide looks incredible! Wow! Thank you Hasbro!
JT, tell Steve that he did a great job with the TF photos!
I haven't seen Grimlock either here or on other sites' coverage so I assume he's not in the first few waves which is disappointing. I thought we saw an unpainted prototype of him, or at least a pic of it, at Comic Con.
That Autobot motorcycle with the Mr. Freeze dome on his head has not appeared on the show yet, nor has Soundwave and yet their toys are coming before Grimlock and Swoop?
I was on the fence about Onslaught but he's vaulted to "must buy" status for me.
Onslaught's more production-level paint works better for me than the garish prototype.
Yeah, they had a shot in the slideshow at SDCC of Grimlock:
My guess is either the proto wasn't ready enough for TF or they forgot him. Kinda weird though, it's going to be extremely popular.
Thanks JT, I thought I remembered seeing photos of that slide. I didn't realize that Grimlock is going to be Voyager class! They've been on model for the most part with the show designs so I know he'll turn out to be an awesome figure.
I really liked the close ups that Steve did of Blackarachnia in spider mode (It's a shame that the robot hands are completely visible though. Couldn't they have designed the hands like Movie Jazz's?). I did look through some of the photos on tformers.com and they're nowhere near Steve's and I'm not just saying that. And apparently, he doesn't even collect Transformers???
