I'm enjoying it. I read #1 and 2 back to back and couldn't wait until #3 came out. It made me wonder: if this version of SW made it to the big screen, would it have been a hit? Don't know if it would've been the blockbuster it turned out to be, but it would've intrigued people.
I'm getting some customizing ideas from it, too.
Issue #4 had some of the issues (pun always intended) with this kind of script: it had the "it sure seems like they're just dragging this plotline out longer" aspect for me. I still like how they're putting characters in outfits from the films (Luke's ANH ceremony jacket, troopers, etc.), and the SW names and scenarios showing up. Han Solo made his appearance (not exactly how I envisioned him to be, but close).
Apparently, this month's book is #0, with some background on the series. Not sure if the Wednesday release date will be the same in stores, as that's New Year's Day; #5 comes out in February.
I read both. Nothing uber-wunderbar about the #0, and #5 just continues the action (no new characters introduced, with some action). I wonder if a 6-issue series would've been better; this is just dragging on.

I liked the look of #6's art, while the story was very weak. The bounty hunter-type warriors look quite similar to the motley bunch gathered on Vader's Executor in ESB. Only 2 more to end the series! ;)
So, Bel-Cam; did you get the newest issue?
Yeah, it was #7.
You liked it?
Sure. This one had more of the "Star Wars" style to it.
What do you mean, Bel-Cam?
Some humor, cool action, faster pace.
Ha ha. Yep.
Any other details you want to mention?
Wookiees fight, characters get tortured, and next issue's cover promo looks nice.
That's the last issue, right?
You got it.
Well, good to talk with you, Bel-Cam.
Until someone else recently joins in this thread, I gotcha.
Building to an exciting climax. Wonder how it will end?
My guess is that George Lucas falls in love... with his one-handed sister!

I enjoyed it. Glad we had the opportunity to see this unique and different take on this story and how it changed from what we now know and love.
I liked this last issue more than the previous few, but they crammed the entire second half of ANH into a single issue, so there wasn't enough flavor for successes and failures, there wasn't enough time for this particular part of the story to breathe. The twist with Valorum didn't land well either, it was enjoyable but because it wasn't set up earlier it just felt like it came out of nowhere, despite being a satisfying turn. Most of the art held up but some of the faces were a mess, cartoony eyes, that got distracting.
Overall, I'd say this series needed a comic book editor to go through the script for the whole arc and balance it out better, and having read some of Lucas' first draft I can say that not all the fault is on it, some may just Rinzler's lack of experience with comics. So a mixed experience, and I may re-read it as a whole and see if I enjoy it more.
