Aliens / Predator questions for Glitch or anyone who knows...

Was this Alien playset or this Predator playset ever made? Was it released? If made but unreleased, any idea how many were made? [very stupid question to follow] if they were made, can one be obtained?

These playsets and the vehicles seem to have been designed to a slightly higher standard than the star wars action fleet line, and I'd be interested to know who were the Galoob (in-house or sub-contracted) designers for the Aliens and Predator Action Fleet items?

I saw these in the stores, back when I was collecting the MicroMachine Star Wars line Swafman. I almost bought it like 10 times, because I love Aliens and Predator. They also had a version that was a Predator head. So yes, it was produced, but they don't show up on Ebay all that often.

I've always thought that it was a shame that this playset was never produced. It totally rocks! Here's another photo.

    couldn't agree more

Haggie - I'm so glad you unearthed those pics...the Aliens playset is one that I almost literally drooled over when I first saw it and almost cried when I found out it wasn't going to be on the market...truly sad...I would have LOVED to have the yellow power suit with a little Ripley...

Here's to what could have been... :-)

The yellow powersuit is damn cool, alright. Too bad, eh?

I think you questions have been answered. There was also a T2 Endo skull transforming head playset produced as well. I have the protos for all three sets, and there are a few cool varations when compared to the final product - the Aliens set in particular. Among other things, the shape of the table was changed from rectangular to round, and the door went from an outward swinging hinged door to sliding one concealed in the wall. From then on I learned that we had to be VERY specific in the instruction on the control drawings. You just can't have an arrow indicating, "door."

Side note: I made a sketch of a tranforming Indiana Jones playset, but it never made it. It was, in my opinion, the coolest one. It transformed from the gold idol at the beginning of "Raiders" into the jungle temple in which it was housed - complete with multiple traps (arrows, spikes, etc...) , "bottomless" pits to swing over, and that big ol' rollin' boulder!

It is a killer that the deluxe Aliens set was not produced. You could recreate the entire film with that one playset. It never made it past the proto phase.

Thanks to everyone for the info. And re: the aliens deluxe & Indy sets: WOW!!!

Glitch, would you say that there is realistically any chance of the Aliens deluxe playset ever being revived & released?

When you say it never made it past the prototype phase, does that mean that only a single model was made? If so, would it have been made of clay or plaster, and painted, or what? Do you think that prototype is still in the Hasbro "vault" or might a current or ex-employee such as yourself, or JKF have it / one of them?

If anyone wants them someone just posted the ALiens and Terminator sets on ebay with buy nows of 25.00 each. I already have them so I won't take them, but 25.00 each isn't a bad deal. I've seen the Terminator set gor for 75.00 a few months ago. I've also seen one sell for 4.99 GBP recently, but 25.00 is still a great deal IMO.

Glitch, that Indy playset sounds super awesome, I'm really bummed it never got produced.
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

Kylo Ren - came from Space Brooklyn, although he moved to Space Williamsburg before it was trendy.

The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.
