    Question SW books

    Hi all,
a friend of mine is going to Canada on vacation and I would like to ask him if he can buy some SW book for me.

I already have the Essential Guide to Vehicles and the Essential Guide to Characters and I am very happy with them. What would you suggest to buy? I am more interested to technical details about vehicles and ships, but every aspect of the SW universe is OK. I heard about Incredible Cross-Sections, is it good? or is it too "juniorized"? Should I buy the rest of the Essential Guides? or are there other books which are a must?

I am really grateful for any suggestion, thank you!

    Ciao

    Hey JG

But ALL three of the cross sections books - they are FANTASTIC.

If you're into SW vehicles, they're indispensible.

    Cheers

JG, I scanned a couple pages from the SW incredible cross-sections book for you to check out the content. Here are links to the scans. The image files are about 130KB each, and I'll leave them on my website for a week or two, then remove them to save file quota space.

    AT-ST cross-section

    Y-Wing cross-section

The book is larger than the glass of scanner, so I could't fit the whole page on the scans.

One thing to consider: the book is short - only 32 pages - 14 ships and a page about the engines for all the ships. But it is a very nice book.

    Enjoy.

BTW, I added another page to my website showing pictures of my collection. I don't have a digicam, and my 35mm camera is absolute crap. The pictures on the page are scans of 35mm prints, and are pretty awful. I'll upload better pics when/if I ever get a good digicam.

Another way to view the details of the DK books is to go DIRECTLY to their site and choose the book you're interested in checking out, then choose the "look inside" feature and you can see some more GREAT detailed pics like SWAFFY's!

    Thank you!
As usual you are very very helpful (thank you swafman for the time you spent scanning those pages  )

You have persuaded me the 3 Incredible Cross-Sections books are a good choice. If they are still available at bookstores.

There is also the Star Wars Encyclopedia, by Sansweet, which may be interesting. I will try to get that one too.

Thank you again for your help, you are the best!

the sansweet encylopedia is awright, nothin to get very excited about though.

the other books in the sw line which dk publishes, "the visual dictionary's" (there's one for the original trilogies, the phantom menace, and attack of the clones, three books in all), are far more entertaining, and contain a wealth of information on all characters vehicles, weapons, accessories, doo dads, whatever, pertaining solely to the motion pictures. a lot of the information contained within these books can be found no where else.

another fabulous book in the dk series is inside the world of star wars, episode I

the sansweet encyclopedia deals waaaaaay too much with the expanded universe for my tastes.
