question about "The Force"

I've got a question about the Force lightsabers maybe some of you can answer. How fragile are these things? I mean is the blade going to fall off if I go to demonstrate how they work or break if accidentally tapped hard? As a kid a friend and I would play with them at our local toy store, but I have no concept of how fragile they would be (or could be after 20 years).

I wouldn't know cause I never had one. I would examine them first and start slowly but not bash them hard. Remember as a kid our strongest is nowhere near what it is now. Just be careful.
