Die Cast Star Wars Micro Machines Package Variations

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this or if it is common knowledge but I'll go on anyways. A while ago I noticed that there is a package variation on the series 2 SW DC MMs. Some come with stands and have an image of an X-Wing on a stand on the cardboard under the bubble, others don't have a stand or the image. I'm pretty sure the ones with the stands came first, but looking at the series one ships makes me wonder. The series 1 ships don't have the image, but they do have stands. So, I guess it went like this: series 1 with stands and no image, series 2 with stands and image, series 2 without image or stands.

I've been trying to track down both versions of each of the 7 series 2 ships for quite a while. Just finding the ships alone is hard enough. Well, I just got the second version of the Snowspeder and so I'm pretty happy. I now just need the Death Star and A-Wing with the image or stand to have them all (unless there are some without the image but with the stand, then it'll be a lot tougher to finish of my DC collection).

    here are a few images:

I took these pics a while ago, when I get the chance to take more pics I'll take one of the Snowspeeders (as well as other images I've promised to R2).

BTW, if anyone has the A-Wing or Death Star without the stands and is willing to trade for ones with stands please let me know, I have an extra of each of them to trade.

Wow, I didn't know any of wave 2 came with stands, that's an interesting variation. I've just been using wave 1 stands for my DC Death Star. I'll keep an eye out for the A-wing and DS.
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.

One thing I left out and probably should add is that the series 2 stands were just plain blue. The Star Wars logo was not painted silver. The series one stands look much better.

Hmm, ok, that explains it. I have 1 or 2 of those stands, I must not have noticed which set it came with... or just forgot. I like the series 1 stands, but the plain blue are nice too. But for DC, I like the Battle Pack black stands the best.

Hmm, I'm not home right now so I can't check for myself, but I never thought f using the BP stands for them. I'll have to check it out, I never really liked the blue stands they come with.

I just noticed another variation with the Die Cast line that I never knew about. When I got the Snowspeeder variation I got a few other items too, but thought the Snowspeeder was the only one I needed until today. I was just taking pictures of some stuff for Todd Carlton and one of the images I needed was the DC set. I also needed to take pics of both versions of the JC Penny's X-Ray Gift set and luckily my DC set was on top of them, otherwise I would have taken a pic of the set I got recently rather than dig out the one already had. Anyways, when I looked at the one I had it looked differnt than the one I just got so I had to compare them. The one I had was in the Canadian packaging which I thought was the only version since I've heard of it only as a Canadian Walmart exclusive. well, the one I recently got is in what appears would have been the US packaging had it been released in the US with Australian stickers on the back. I wonder if it was released anywhere else.

You're right. The Die-Cast collector gift set was available in Canada and Australia. A friend of mine who lives in Brisbane sent me the Australian one.
A few Galoob products were sold on these two markets like the Action Fleet T-16 Skyhopper.
Australia is a very special market. They had plenty of exclusives (like the Episode 1 carded 4" OOM-9 with comtech chip : The figure is taller than all the other regular 3,3/4" figs and taller than the regular OOM-9 distributed in the rest of the world).
You know the holo Naboo cruiser (with Jedi braid)...

Interesting S43....the stand versions hadn't registered, since I haven't done the scans on those. I have the 4 you mentioned (TIE Bomber, Slave I, Executor and Landspeeder) with and without the stands pictured, but only have the Death Star, A-Wing and Snowspeeder with the specail display stand pictured. Guess I'll have to be on the lookout for those as well Interesting discovery there S43!!!
