Prototype Versus Production Comparison #2: MM Mon Calamari Cruiser.

If you guys don't mind, I just went ahead and created a new thread so that this would not get lost on the old one.

Anyway....

In light of the pics of the new AF version, I decided to go with the Mon Cruiser for the next MM prototype versus production comparison. I will do the B-wing next time. Sorry, Jeddah.

This comparison is not even really close. I went a little crazy with the camera this time.

Like I said, this one is not even close. The detail is almost on par with the upcoming AF version, and this one is under 7 cm in length.

Plain and simple, these things are works of art, and they need to be seen. I just wish the unknown artists were here to take credit for them. All we can do is sit back and admire their masterful work.

Wow, once again they seem like a completely different ship.

Those weapons emplacements are so crisp and defined. The colour is much more in line with what I remember as a kid when I saw these in ROTJ at the cinema. I know the models in the Tech Jnl and Chronicles are much lighter, but these Moya-esque colours seem to do more justice.

And I won't mention Mr Hanky...(oops, natch!)

I am waiting with bated breath for the B-wings Master Glitch. Can we have them soon please please please, and can I have jam on it too, please (j.k)

I never loved the Mon Cal MMs, now I see why! Yeesh, it's like looking at a cheap bootleg versus the original. I would be remiss if I didn't point out just how incredibly heinous the production version appears next to the prototype, the whole thing is just bad hoojoo but that aft underside section, that's the biggest insult of all. Wait, I take that back, the production version's thick cut lines are the biggest insult, you don't even need to compare it to the prototype, just compare it to the production AT-AT from '93. Yowza!

Glitch, even if I'm not a MM collector I can see that the difference between them is huge...

You know the sad part, Glitch? The AF Mon Cal ship that was shown is likely the prototype. Now if they could fit that detail in the proto MM, Hasbro should've been able to knock our socks off with the AF one! Just goes to show that Galoob's protos are truly pieces of priceless art.

About the Prodo vs. Proto Mon Cal ship, I can understand the lack of detail on them, but why the different paintjob?
