I just saw the AT-AT and Snowspeeder, and...

Actually, I shouldn't say "they." The Snowspeeder looks pretty good, but the AT-AT?

It looks as though they took an "off the shelf" can of white spray paint with a bad nozzle and blasted the thing EVERYWHERE!

Some of the paint splotches are over close to 1/4" wide. They are round blotches, so it looks like it has spots or polka dots rather than snow.

On the good side, it is totally random, so there is a chance that you MAY be able to find one with very little "snow."

I'm picturing a sweatshop somewhere in Asia with a conveyor belt of AF AT-ATs rolling along as workers keep dipping housepaint-style paintbrushes into gallon cans of white Sherwin-Williams, and then flicking their wrists towards the unending procession of little walkers.

I thought the walker looked like it was kept near a sink where someone rinsed the toothpaste out of his mouth- rather sloppily I might add.

I just find them today. The Walker isn't all that bad, although I was pretty dissapointed at the "snow" because I thought they were actually gonna add blotches of plastic onto it. It's a pretty fair piece, though they actually kept the piece on the bottom that turns that was supposed to lower the line down. (including the hole the line was supposed to go through!) I think they added details on the inside though, there's "equipment" molded on the floor and theres a backpiece that has slots in it. Looks like it could sit three figures so they wobble wouldn't around alot. I don't remember the first AF AT-AT having those but I haven't had one for quite awhile because mine got destroyed.

The Snowspeeder...eh, they ruined the mold on the button by punching out small holes for them to get those stupid plastic things through and you really have to pull hard to get them out. One of my main fusses about the Snowspeeder though: THE HARPOON GUN AND THE GUNNER WINDOWS AREN'T PAINTED! They're the same color as the surrounding plastic.

Also note: The AT-AT does not have the "snow" speckles all on it's feet, only on the outside. Now I can understand it's inner legs not having it, but the feet would surely have snow all the way around them. You can definitely tell they just went from one side, over the top part and then to the next side with them, not paying attention to detail.

I was considering trying to strip the white paint off these, but now I'm probably going to avoid both of 'em instead. I don't remember either of these having snow all over 'em in the movie, so why Hasbro felt the need to add such an ugly and noticable element is beyond me, especially when it looks like it has bad dandruff rather than snow on it.

I dunno JT, they'd be great if they came with figures, that would've definitely made it worth it. I've seen the Naboo Fighter and Solar Sailor in stores, these are definitely more worth the $10 than those two, or at least more than the Sailor.

The Snowspeeder doesn't have the dandruff snow job and the AT-AT would definitely be better had it been blotches of plastic added. One thing about the AT-AT is did you ever see the EU picture in an Insider (or anywhere) where it has AT-AT's walking through HUGE ice caves? The new AF AT-AT could possibly have been inspired by that or something, I mean I'm sure they got tons of snow on them while stomping through caves or just walking by hills that were taller.

..but I don;t think anyone is debating the possibility of snow making its way onto the hull, I think it is more a question of execution. Think B-wing

More of a travesty IMO is the fact that they are rehashing so many old models at the expense of so many new ones from EP1 that were shelved and EP2 that are due. I even think Slave 1 from AOTC should be put off much further until we have something newer. In the UK, for example, we never even saw past Wave 1 of EP1 AFs on general release and BC3 and I had to pay over the odds at specialist toyshops or order from the US.

So - as long as the 'Fugee Freighter gets made soon, I'll be happy.
