Sophisticated Weaponry does not an advanced civilization make.

Another thread inspired this thought, namely the "Hailfire Droid and Geonosian Fighter Revealed!".
The Geonosians are, by all appearances, a rather dirty and primitive species. Yet, they develop and build sophisticated and high tech weaponry, such as Battle Droids, Geonosian Fighters, and, most importantly, a little space station called the Death Star.

If the Geonosians are so high tech, and if they (likely) make so much money selling Battle Droid armies, why don't they live better? The only sign of affluence I see in AOTC in Poggle the Lesser's snazzy suit. Is Poggle the Lesser the Saddam Hussein of S.W.? Does he reap all the benefits of the Geonosian exports? Does anyone care? More importantly, should I?

It's like a beehive, the queen bee reaps the benefits of all the worker bees.

Or maybe it's a metaphor for communism, the Geonosians do all this work for the greater good of their society and get little in return but the occasional arena deathmatch, and then end up working to benefit outsiders who ultimately corrupt and endanger them.
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

    "We named the dog 'Chewbacca'!"
The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.

"Living nice" is relative. Perhaps they find the way they live quite cosy and comfortable. Perhaps they'd think that living in your house to be all dry, hard and blah in all the angles and textureless surfaces.

Not only should you not only concider this in understanding something as unreal as these Sci-Fi aliens, but even towards your real world human neighbors. Not everyone finds comfort and pleasure in the same things you do.

Thier little dank tunnels could be concidered hi-society livin'.
If I loved Star Wars anymore
than I already do... I'd just puke.

I've thought about this issue of "lifestyle" in reference to the Kamino people as well. By outward appearances, one wouldn't guess that they'd be so secretive. Even as evidenced here on Earth, cloning didn't seem to be an every-day kind of thing in the Star Wars galaxy (Obi Wan: Cloners?) In fact, as manufacturers of such a lucrative enterprise, you'd think that secrecy would be the last thing they'd want.

So, beyond working hard in the cloning factory all day long, what are those guys doing with their time? No paintings on the walls, very clean and sanitized environment they've built for themselves. Somehow it seems downright...alien.

I read somewhere that Kaminoans have a wider range of ultraviolent light and colors and stuff visible to their eyes, so to the average, inferior eye their city appears white, but in fact it is a wide range of different colors.

Your right Fulit. This is from the AOTC Visual DIctionary:

"Kaminoans see color only in the ultraviolet spectrum. Their seemingly white dwellings are suffesed in many shades that humans cannot see."

Thanks for that, guys! Very interesting. Does this mean that the Clone Trooper armor could be rainbow of fruity colors?
