Publisher Namco Entertainment has long held some of the biggest and baddest fighting franchises in the videogame industry, including Tekken. But the company's Soul Calibur series has -- ever since its debut on Sega's ill-fated Dreamcast console -- rocketed up the ladder of popularity. Now Soul Calibur II, recently released in the arcades, is coming to GameCube, PS2 and Xbox with substantial enhancements and exclusive characters for each next-generation platform and it's one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
Not long ago Namco revealed that Nintendo's 'Link' (of Zelda fame) would be a fully playable character exclusive to the GameCube version of Soul Calibur II. Similarly, the firm announced that the Xbox incarnation of SCII would sport Todd McFarlane's Spawn character, decked out in medieval attire and ready to kick some butt. And the PS2 title would boast the powerful Heihachi from the Tekken series.
Judging by official US box art of the game for each platform, included below, it's clear that Namco intends to spotlight the inclusion of the additional characters to the best of its abilities.
