Today finds me with a bizarre variety of music:

Bananarama - Complete Greatest Hits 1982-1989
Ennio Morricone - The Mission (OST)
Shakespear's Sister - Dirty Minds: the best of...
    Linkin Park - Meteora
    Evanescence - Fallen

    Pink Floyd - The Wall
    Mad Season - Above

I just love rediscovering albums. Mad Season's album is one of those that I can just listen to for days but I forget about for months until I stumble upon it again in my collection. Too bad they never did any other after their first release. Way to kill yourself Layne Staley...
"No one helped me so why should I help you?" - College professor circa 1999

By choosing not to decide you still have made a choice.

I'm in love with the women of Univision.

Bananarama's complete greatest hits? What is that, a CD single?
    (har-har. snort.)

This morning it's Bowie's new disc ... "Reality".
(I'll probably listen to that about 20 times.)

Avalon Blues: A Tribute to Mississippi John Hurt. The guy was so good, even a tribute album to him rules.

Ahhhh... therein lies the difference between the United States and the rest of the world. Here's a little bit of trivia: Bananarama was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most charted girl-group in the history of pop music.

so... it's actually a pretty full disc, sir.

That Bowie disc is pretty good. I'm glad he finally got back to making music... That whole Tin Machine thing was just awful. I actually like his last disc. "Slow Burn" was a great single. Classic Bowie!!!

Oh, now ... just kidding around. I'm sure there's an old Bananarama cassette tape floating around my house some place.

Yes, and I'm a pretty forgiving fan, but there was for sure a point between "Tonight" and "Earthling" where Bowie lost me.
(Ultimately though, it's just nice to have him around ... still making music. If Bowie can get old and still do "it", then I suppose we all can.)

I totally hear you... a lot of it was just noise and experimenting for the sake of experimenting. I don't have a problem with someone doing that, but I certainly wouldn't do that at the sake of the buying public's expense. I respect artists who say "hey I'm gonna do something really off the wall here" and then release it as an independent release that people who WANT to follow along can.

Anyhow... I've really like the material on the last two discs and would love to see him on his tour. Sadly, the financial truth is... I CANT!!! *shrug* Oh, well.
