I decided to check out the new book on CD, it is the abridged version. I will let you know how it goes.

BTW, Zahn said he'll have his 7th SW book out in '05.
Some of the details from the panel:

He considers himself more of a visual writer.
He often travels to places to get a feel for the environment he'll use for the setting.
He suggests writing short fiction first if you're interesting in being a sci-fi novelist.
