NO. It is NOT great news. It is AWESOME NEWS! Another sequel to my favorite games series? AWESOME.

I do believe I've been corrected.

The best part is that Factor 5 is still on board. It's usually at this point in a series that they get some crappy new team to rush out a substandard title.

I saw this is in the back of my latest subscription EGM. They're supposed to have a feature on it in next month's issue.

JBF walks in holding the latest EGM

Ok folks, I have with me the newest EGM with the newest information on our oh so anticipated Gamecube exclusive, Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike (working title). Let me just say, once this magazine is on newstands, buy it! Great info here, and I will try my best to list the important stuff to get those mouths out there salivating. Ok, let's do this:

Players will be able to get out of their vehicles and walk around and do some damage! They use examples like having Luke get out the snowspeeder and take an AT-AT down with lightsaber and thermal detonator!
There's a rescue level set in the Death Star where te object is to get Leia. There will be something with Luke on the speederbike on Endor. Even learning the ways of the force with Yoda on Dagobah. In short, it says this game has everything short of actually dueling with Vader in lightsaber combat.
There's going to be a level set on Hoth. There will be 13 missions, starting right after the destruction of the first Death Star and ending on the forest of Endor. There will also be 7 bonus missions. Missions will cover events from the movies, plus certain off camera action.
One bonus level will cover the Death Star rescue, where you start off in stormtrooper disguise and have to get Leia. You can do it the movie's way, or just start shooting from the beginning and blast your way there. Then you go into the trash compactor, solve a puzzle to get out, and then you get to the swing across the chasm with a grappling hook. They compare it to the hookshot stuff from Zelda. Remember, this is all just one level.
You get to play as Chewie in the stolen AT-ST. There's a level about rescuing Han from Jabba's palace.
The entire game of Roger Squadron 2: Rogue Leader will be in this game, except it will only be available for 2 Player Co-Op stuff. They say that there will be no repeat of levels from Rogue Leader, so no blowing up Death Stars or tripping up AT-ATs.
Wow, this stuff about the speederbike on Endor just sounds great. They say you can put it in first person and it's so real looking. Basically you have to do like in the movie, destroy and evade the other speederbikes after you. Not sure if this is a bonus level or not. Looks great nonetheless. Also mentions you can go on foot for this level and use your trusty lightsaber! YES!
The first mission in the game is defending Yavin base from the Empire as they try to stop the Rebels from evacuating after the first Death Star's destruction. Says you are Luke, and during midmission you get out of your ship and use your blaster to blast Imperial troops alongside of Wedge Antilles! It says this is all 3rd person stuff when you're on foot, and that the hangar scenes from Rogue Leader served as the prototypes for these kinds of missions.
Says controls stay the same whether in ship or on foot. Describes what the controls do, nothing to great. Z rolls the ship, A fires, B is secondary weapons. Controls do the same for on the ground character. You can order secondary characters like Chewie, Wedge, Han, and Leia around with the D-Pad. Shoulder buttons are for speed in ship, and do target lock and jump when on the ground.
After the first mission you must decide if you want to take Luke's campaign or Wedge's campaign. They're both different sets of missions. Luke's is more ground based and includes stuff like a battle over the sarlacc and landspeeder racing on Tatooine. Actual footage at near DVD quality is used from the movies to set up each level before starting it. Wedge's levels are more ship based, since he's a pilot. He flies everything from A-Wings to B-Wings to a TIE Hunter (experimental folding wing Imperial ship.) His levels are more outside of the movie stuff, like one level has him on Geonosis battling a Super Star Destroyer, trying to destroy it before it can be outfitted with a cloaking device.
There will be medals earned in this game for bonus levels, but the requirements for these medals won't be as tough to achieve.
There's a level with Han escorting Leia to the Millennium Falcon through the maze like structure of Hoth Base as you battle snowtroopers. You will also get to man the blaster canon that comes out of the Falcon's underbelly.
The Hoth level starts after Luke's speeder is shot down. Basically you run around on foot taking out snowtroopers and using your grappling hook, lightsaber, and detonator to take out AT-ATs. Says you can control tripod guns on the field to kill the troops. Then you ride a tauntaun to your X-Wing and escort ships into orbit, BUT you can always turn around and fly back to the surface! Cool, I say!
The Chewie in AT-ST level on Endor sounds cool. It says you can burn trees with concussion missiles, says they really combust too. No idea if you can kill the Ewoks or not, but there's a pic of them in here scattering. Ha ha, they better let you kill them! Not much else is said on this level. Oh, the Ewoks are like your wingmen on this level, though.
The old Rogue Leader levels are in 2 player co-op, but there might also be a versus thing with up to 4 players challenging each other. It says you'll be able to do some new things in these levels, like have other ships and pilot AT-STs. They want to be put the WARS in STAR WARS, claims the article.
There might be a kamikaze A-Wing level, taken straight from Jedi. It says you can do it like in the movie, or actually fight the Super Star Destroyer, which will be incredibly tough to do. Also might be a level where you use an AT-AT.
Factor 5 says they have no plans to port this game to other systems, since it was designed just for GameCube hardware. They say they still have close ties to Nintendo.
At the end of the article the guy from Factor 5 says maybe the next game can feature up to 16 different people hooking up as a squadron of X-Wings to take on the Death Star. He hints that will be a next generation game, though if they do try it.
JarJar will not be in this game. And a soundalike voice was used for all of Obi-Wan's lines in the game. That's all, folks.

Krikee, I still haven't finished the first one. Guess I'd better start playing more often.
