A Brief History of the Star Wars galaxy

[Tycho]

25,000 years before (The Battle of Yavin [ANH]) - Republic is formed,

25,000 years before ANH - Jedi schism causes Order formed; Dark Jedi exile.

At some point, Dark Jedi find Sith space. Become Lords of the Sith.


5000 before ANH: Republic explorers find lost Sith Empire, contact spurs Hyperspace Wars versus Naga Sadow.

Jedi Library founded on Ossus - becomes Jedi capital.

4000 years before ANH - It is discovered that Naga Sadow had survived on Yavin, and trained an apprentice, Freedon Nadd, a former Jedi.

Nadd's spirit corrupts Jedi Exar Kun, and Sith Cult Sect (called the Krath) adepts Satal Keto and Aleema.

Aleema seduces Jedi Ulic Qel Droma, who takes over the Krath-Sith and vies for Sith power with Exar Kun. Ultimately they secure the allegiance of the Mandalorians, and attack Coruscant itself.

Nomi Sunrider defeats them, moves the Jedi capital to Coruscant after Ossus is destroyed during the Sith War.

2,000 years before ANH - Sith legacy revealed to have survived in Ulic Qel Droma's Krath Empire capital, and Jedi turn to the Dark Side following Sith doctrine.

War breaks out in the Republic, with new Sith Lords emerging, and Jedi turning dark, also proclaiming themselves lords.


1,000 years before ANH, Jedi under Lord Hoth violently pursue the Sith to Ruusan, where they face the Sith commander, Lord Kaan. He is abandoned by Lord Bane, who takes the title Darth Bane, and is the sole survivor of the climactic final clash, overlooking Rain, a would-be Jedi youngling, who might become the first modern Sith Witch - Darth Zannah, but was definitely Bane's apprentice.

The Sith disappear.

Durge begins his hybernation.

Yoda is born within 20 years around these times.

A Jedi reformation is in order. The Republic is reborn to the start of what is referred to the modern Old Republic.

32 years before ANH:

A Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, manipulates politics during the Battle of Naboo to gain him the title of Supreme Chancellor of the Old Republic.

He plans for the Jedi's extermination. Darth Vader begins his training as the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker.

22 years before ANH:

Sidious begins the Clone Wars, carefully controlling both sides of the conflict, which grant him a Clone army at his disposal, as well as all the wealth of all the trade guilds in the galaxy, and the chance to make sure Jedi die.

Darth Vader, as Anakin Skywalker, marries the future mother of Luke and Leia Skywalker.

20 years before ANH: The Galactic Empire replaces the Old Republic.

Darth Vader comes to power.

ANH: The Rebel Alliance is led by Luke Skywalker to a momentum-gaining victory over the Empire's Death Star.

3 years after ANH: Luke traines to become a Jedi. The Rebellion struggles on. Vader reveals himself to be Luke's father.

4 years after ANH: Luke fully realizes his knighthood, Vader destroys the Emperor to return to justice and good. The Empire is dealt a crippling, but not fatal blow.

The Rebellion and Empire alike face Ss-ruvvi Imperium attack.

6 years after ANH - Bolstered by victories, the Rebellion drives towards Coruscant.

8 years after ANH - Han marries Leia. Coruscant falls. Imperial Intelligence's ad hoc leader, Yssane Isaard escapes with a super star destroyer for a prison ship. A New Republic is proclaimed. Mon Mothma is elected Chief of State.

9 years after ANH - Grand Admiral Thrawn nearly retakes Coruscant. Jaina and Jacen Solo are born.

10 years after ANH - Emperor Palpatine returns inhabiting the bodies of Clones and he and his warlords recapture Coruscant but cannot hold it. Luke Skywalker rids the galaxy of all the Emperor's clones. Coruscant is retaken. Anakin Solo is born.

11 years after ANH - Luke begins a Jedi Academy and recruits the Force talented. Imperial terrorism replaces coordinated attacks.

where in the movies or EU does it say that palpatine=sidious? while it's probably true until i see the source i remain skeptical

Hmm, let's see . . . look the same, sound the same, played by the same guy. Also, when Yoda and Mace talk about the Sith at Qui-Gon's cremation, it zooms in on Palpatine. I'm going to say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Palpatine and Sidious are one and the same.

And that Emperor Palpatine in ROTJ is clearly a Sith. And how Chancellor Palpatine in Ep 2 is shaping Anakin's mind towards the dark side. And how the Journal of the Whills that Lucas wrote way back in the day said as much.

just wondered if anywhere it stated they were the same person. both movies of the PT have been building to the revelation of sidious to the jedi. however, GL likes the surprise and plot twist of unexpected (?) occurences. thanks JT for providing a source for such info.
