    New Comics (2/5/04)

    Uncanny X-Men 439
    Supreme Power 7
    Transformers G1 V3 1
    Thanos 6

Uncanny. Good story. Good art. Except that since its a complete lift of Romeo & Juliet (the story arc was even originally called Romeo X) it loses some of the climactic elements. Gee, will the two star crossed lovers bite it in the end? And they are just glossing over the most conflictive element of the story. who wouldn't want to see Ma Guthrie giving Warren a stern going over about wanting to shtup her teenage daughter?

Supreme. oooh! Booboos! The mother of all cliffhangers! I must say the sum of these issues is greater than the parts. What a finely crafted story!

Transformers. I guess...ummm...I'm confused. I need to go back a reread #0 because the only thing I remember from that were the suck Quintessons. This new Decepticon intrigues me. Figueroa keeps up a nice standard after Lee. I would like to see more "history" in this continuity that clarifies what happened compared to the Cartoon and previous comic series. There's this vague idea that it is similar to the origins of both, but I wouldn't mind seeing a limited or even an ongoing series setting it in stone. In any case, I'm hooked. Can't wait for next issue. Giant changing robots RULE!!

Thanos. Aha! There's the space epic I was waiting for. Thanos slamming Galactus between TWO FREAKING PLANETS was awesome. And then afterwards, he had the chutzpah to give the Devourer a stern lecture. Where's the Thanos Marvel Legend? It's too bad this was Starlin's final issue, but Ron Lim comes on board next issue!!! The mad Titan returns to...Titan. Expect familial hijinks.

I agree with you, especially if you saw the preview pic of the next issue.

I read "Red Zone". I liked it.

I just finished reading No Man's Land. It was pretty sweet!

Is HUSH in graphic novel form yet?

They released the first half of Hush already in hardcover. I'm assuming the second half is close to being released. Both will have extra pinups and goodies from Jim Lee, including an intro to the Batman mythos in part one, and the Wizard Zero six page insert story in part two.

I think the second Hush book is already out. It's good, but sorta fizzles in the end. Of course, Eternal Padawan and I think Hush's story is far from over. Check the "Jim Lee Goes Batty" thread if you want discussion and spoilers on that.

Also, next month Hush's tale continues in Gotham Knights, when Hush goes after the supposed mastermind of the "Hush" story. I say "supposed" because EP and I know who it really has to be.

What's up with that Bane Story being billed as a the last Bane story ever? What, now that Hush is on the scene, there isn't room for two new Bat arch nemeses? That's whack. of course, I haven't read comics for a decade, so Bane might have turned into the biggest plot tool and deserves to be put out to pasture. if that's the case, it's a shame to see such an intriguing character squandered. Oh well, onto intriguing character squandering; Round II.

    Secret War #1
Knights 4 #1 (A lot better than I was expecting; really good)
    1602 #7
Ultimate X-Men #42 (this series seems like it's leading to an Ultimate X-Factor)
    Sentinel #12
    Hulk #67
    Teen Titans #8
    Street Fighter #5
Fables #22 (like Ultimate X #41, they dropped a stand-alone story in the middle of the arc)

Well, I received Star Wars #99 from the old Marvel series to finally complete the 107 book set. I know that's not current (the cover dialogue [remember when cover used to actually tell you a hint about what would happen inside the comic?] says "If Lando dies... I'll destroy your planet!" Heavy), but it's significant for me, and I never get to post in this here thread anymore it seems...
"May the 4th be with you?" "Why yes, thank you for asking."

Congrats, Bel Cam! I've been chasing that series for a long time, but I'm still not quite at the point yet where I can buy 1 issue at a time to clean it up (still in need of nearly 40 issues of the regular series, 3 Annuals and the ROJ 4 issue Limited Series). Luckily I have most of the last 20 or so issues, those have gone up quite a bit.
