Found and bought TFP Voyager Skyquake yesterday at TRU. Their voyager price is absurd but a coupon and gift card brought it down to 18.77 which is a lot better than what many were paying for Skyquake. I haven't opened yet but I think the mold looks better in these colors than Dreadwing's.

Also picked up #1 of the new Beast Hunters comic. It looks like it's going to be more similar to the MTMTE comic than the TFP BH show and will revolve around the Dinobots and Firestar seemingly.

JT, I do my banking with Citibank and it's only recently they partnered with Amazon.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who couldn't get Blitzwing's heads to rotate.

I picked up Skyquake this weekend as well and agree with Figgy that these colors are better. That said, I'm nervous because my Dreadwing's tail fin broke nearly right out of the box - the joint just disintegrated on me. So, I fear the same will happen here.

Also, I unlatched the spring in his powerizer canon and used one of the clear rubber bands he's packaged with to secure the canon in extended mode. Very cool.

I have not yet transformed Springer. His robot mode is awesome and I think I will buy a 2nd one to transform (and see if I can use the car mode).

I have a Voyager Springer (non-triple changing) for the helicopter mode from an earlier line (don't recollect which).

But I also plan to buy one or more additional Blitzwings. He's not that bad.

Do you mean not clear on cost for a single day? Otherwise, there's a brochure here: http://www.botcon.com/BotCon2013/San...20brochure.pdf

Basically, $365 (Primus) for the entire weekend and the boxset + free attendee figure + casino night, or $175 (Protoform) without those things. Alternatively, you can partner with someone who has a Primus package and get the Minicon package. This is similar to the Protoform, but gets you into the Casino night for $90. They will probably post single day prices closer to the con.

It is very difficult because there are actually a couple different lines from that era of transforming robot figures named "Convertors" using different molds - Select in the US who used the Whirl mold rights, Grandstand in the UK who used the Omega Supreme mold rights, another company outside both countries who licensed the Grandstand Convertors line, and possibly a Japanese line.

Here's a few links to US Convertors line:

Well, let us know if you can make it. I think the door is $20 for adults and $10 for kids... yup, here's the pricing: http://www.botcon.com/BotCon2013/genadm13.cfm

Can't speak for figgy, but Chase offers an Amazon Rewards credit card that's about as decent as any of their credit cards. (Not the biggest Chase fan in the world, but they're as good or bad as most banks.) I think American Express might allow you to use points now, too. Also, not a bank, but I get Amazon gift cards from Swagbucks, which I thought was a total scam until I realized my wife was basically getting most of her paperbacks free; I'm sure there are other sites along the same lines but I don't have time to bother with more than one.
    Cewl with a K.

I passed on it, I'm not a huge fan of TFPBH and I'm not a fan of Dinobots in comics, they're too repetitive, should I go back and give it another look?

Aw man, I gotta get in on that, I have done some banking with them ever since they bought California Federal (who bought Glendale Federal).

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who couldn't get Blitzwing's heads to rotate.
Yeah, it's a real bear, Chux had a problem and I read someone's post here with that comment about loosening it, and that did the trick (mostly).

I guess I'm passing on this mold, I'm not in love with the colors, the weapon, or the idea that it breaks easily if I have to pay TRU pricing. I don't like the character enough to justify it.

Can't the cannon's gearing be ratcheted open? Clear-banding is an ok answer, but seems like if I find it on clearance, I'd take it apart and remove the spring altogether.

Springer is not fragile in any way I can detect, he's a safe transformation. Blitzwing I could see getting a duplicate if you really need a pristine bot mode, his head is already showing paint transfer (that's what they get for using thick, gloppy yellow paint for no reason).

The previous Springer you have sounds like the Universe figure, a TF:Cybertron line-based mold, came in a 2-pack with Ratbat from Cybertron Sideways.

Oh cool, we'll have to meet up during the show, do lunch or something. I'm shooting for Friday, may be Saturday though. All assuming I can get a press badge for this show.

Ha! I might be in a photo in that brochure, it uses a long line from Botcon in Pasadena, and I was at both the '09 and '11 shows there. I don't see myself but it's a tiny photo.

Ugh, they misspelled "San DEIGO" in that brochure file name.

Anyway, I posted a link to the day price for the public days, same price as they were in Pasadena.

I did crack it open. I unlatched the spring so it wouldn't keep trying to pull itself up, but then it just became floppy, so I added the rubber band. Works brilliantly. You can't ratchet it open because of the way they designed the ratcheting system.

Sure, I can shoot you my cell number later to make setting that up easy.

Thanks for the link, I totally missed that. Gen Admission is far cheaper than I thought it would be.

Oh, ok, I see what you mean. What a mess, I'll never understand why they blundered those TFP voyager accessories so badly.

    Alright, cool beans.

Think about Botcon compared to other cons, San Diego Comic-Con is only $42 a day for full days, and that's 9am to midnight+ content, it seems like $20 is the most they could hope to ask for without adding a second panel room and more exhibitors.

Yeah, but FubPub tends to give off the impression they believe their con is worth far more than it is so a higher cost wouldn't have surprised me. That's a down right reasonable one day cost.

I have to assume that's just bluster on their part to justify the various package prices. You can't consistently run an annual convention this size without seeing the bigger fish in the pond.

    ---

First look at production Metroplex, who needs... stickers!!!

    http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-...review-177673/

A buddy just texted me about the stickers thing, and I was incredulous because I couldn't imagine Hasbro asking us to spend $125+ on a figure that requires STICKERS! Stickers, which haven't been used in the line since, what, the Machine Wars line from 18 years ago? But my pal was right, TFW has pictures of the whole set unboxing, and there ARE stickers for all the small details:

Honestly, the figure doesn't look that bad without them, the majority are pretty minor things, but man do I hate stickers, they're hard to put on and they peel off over time, this is not something that should be acceptable on a figure created for collector interests - it's saying "this will not withstand the test of time".

Other than that, I'm really not feeling either alt mode now, this may end up being a pass for me, but I do love that leggy bot mode still.
