From SW.COM "This unusual deluxe version of the Death Star playset features a larger box plus additional AT-AT and AT-ST vehicles. The box mistakingly depicts the additional ships as an Imperial Star Destoyer and the Millennium Falcon. "

Re: The Death Star Playset "Deluxe" version?

Hmm, never seen this one before, my best theories would be:

    1) it's a mock-up/prototype and they messed up on the cargobay; or...
    2) it's a UK-only item, which might explain the different version of the choke hazard warning.

It's darn peculiar to discover a variation like this 10 years later.

Thanks JT, I just wasn't sure. It looked somewhat akin to the IDEAL packaged transforming action sets, but no IDEAL logo. It has the falcon and destroyer pictured on the back, as being included, but we have the AT-AT and AT-ST shown in the front window, which of course doesn't make sense to have on the Death Star

Just wondered if this applied to "other" playsets. If it's a "foreign" thing, then I did'nt want to pursue it (information-wise), there are just TOO TOO MANY different versions out there......... though I wouldn't mind tracking down the Micromachine mail-away poster that was offered on some Autralian MM's

    Yeah, I get ya.

I really wonder where the cargobay unearthed that piece, if it's from Sansweet's collection then it really could have come from ANYWHERE -- prototype, mock-up, foreign market, ultra-limited exclusive, you name it.

Re: The Death Star Playset "Deluxe" version?

Well, I got that darn Death Star Deluxe playset from someone in the UK. Something of interest, is that it has an ARGOS truck included in the bag with the parts. Now I wonder from the UK MM collector's, is this a "normal" thing, or could this deluxe set be exclusive to the ARGOS store?

This set has the AT-AT and AT-ST just like the cargo bay pic, even though it is shown on the back of the box and listed inside the front window, as having the Falcon and Imp. Star Destroyer. Now I have to wonder, is there another deluxe set out there with the "right" vehicles?

Great find! And hey, it supports my theory about it being a UK exclusive, double-score!
