Maybe, as with Lyle Alzado's brain turning to mush and his premature death, the loss of a premier baseball player who publicly admitted his steroid usage will spur MLB to address the rampant problem within it's ranks. Although if it was a heart attack, it will probably be linked to cocaine.

I saw this in the Sportscenter Bottomline this morning, and was pretty stunned. I know he had been having his problems with drugs, and his admitted use of steroids, but a heart attack at 41 is still pretty eerie. With John Cerutti dying of natural causes recently at a similar age (and Darryl Kile not too long ago), it shows that even athletes aren't superhuman, and could go at any time. Steroids, or not, Caminiti was a impressive player in his prime, and I am saddened by this news.

i'll second that. i lived in the houston area, and got to see him play in person and on TV numerous times. he was one tough dude, and probably one of the best third basemen ever. a friend of mine, who's into restoring old cars, even did one for caminiti.

he has three daughters. i sure hope he put some money aside for them.
