Weekly Review: Snaggletooth

Snaggletooth steps to the bar this week for his review. First off the figure has two major variations, a blue version and a red version. The blue version was first available with the Sears exclusive, the Cantina Adventure playset in 1978. But could also be had from JC Penney's, in a two pack with Greedo. The blue Snaggletooth was never available on any card back type.
The red version, which latter replaced the blue version in the playset was first released in 1979 on 20 back card. The red Snaggletooth can be found on most major card back types, 20 and higher, but not POTF.

I never had either Snaggletooth. I never was much of a fan of these figures, except for the cool name. Snaggletooth. Looking back, there were many other aliens they could have done in the vintage days that would have been more interesting. Snaggs just seems to fall short (no pun) when compared to his cantina compatriots.

I had two of the Red Snaggletooths as a kid but the figure doesn't hold any memories for me. Just another figure I guess. Could hold the gun well which made him more valuable to me than others. I do remember that they got killed pretty early in my battles. I used him mostly as a Jabba henchman.

Did 'obtain' a blue snaggletooth which I liked much better than the red. Probably because he was the same height as the other figures and therefore made him more formidable. However couldn't holf the weapon as well.

One of my all time favorite figures, Red Snags is a very sentimental figure to me. First, I always loved his look and I much prefer the red to the blue. I remember getting him from my mom as a kid, I think he was given to my sister and I along with Han Solo ANH and Leia ANH. Yep, I still remember that day, rather clearly.

When I got back into collecting in 1994 at age 16 to re-buy the stuff I had when I was a kid, Snags was one of the first I picked up !

great figure. never count him out because he is short compared to his taller blue brother. i still have the red one in my collection. i never did obtain the blue one.

Old red Snaggs, gotta love him. He was always a disposable toady that I killed off quickly. Made a nice sidekick to bounty hunters et. Fell of many appliances to his death R.I.P. Vintage Snaggletooth

I had never even heard of the blue Snaggletooth until ten years ago when I picked up Tomark first price. And then it wasn't until a couple years ago that even let the thought of buying one cross my mind. When I first really got into vintage collecting in '98 (prior to that I had only toyed with the idea) I decided not to get the blue version. The main reasons were: variation, rarity, and price. But I got over the variation part, blue Snaggs aren't that rare and I got a good price (at the time) on my.

I have the red Snaggletooth. One my friends at school at the taller, blue Snaggletooth so I knew he had been made but I never got one. I don't even have the OTC version.

I liked all the cantina aliens but didn't play with them as often as Han or Luke. So Snaggletooth and his ilk practically lived in my homemade cantina.

Hey Sam i got an idea thought for you. When you review a vintage figure, say Snaggletooth for example. you should compare it to the "new" edition of the character if one was made. In many cases i think the vintage figure looks better than the new version, and would add a new dimention to your reviews.

Bossk77 I don't know if you saw or read this thread, but its the one where I first onlined how I saw these weekly foci going. They're not just reviews. I personally have no interest in comparing vintages figures to moderns ones, but you do please step up. The more points of view the better.
