There were several origins for this thread. 1) I recently noticed (don't ask how, I don't recall) that no player with a last name beginning with 'X' has played in the majors. 2) If you're like me, your team (in my case, Pittsburgh) is possibly already out of the post-season race. 3) Making lists is super-duper fun! So...
... who are your top major league players of all time, by alphabetical listing? Some letters were easy, while others (notably 'R' and 'M' for me) were tougher, and some players only made it because that letter is weakly represented. Here's mine (without any reasons, I'll wait a bit for that).
