Thread: Baseball ABC

  1. #1

    Post Baseball ABC

There were several origins for this thread. 1) I recently noticed (don't ask how, I don't recall) that no player with a last name beginning with 'X' has played in the majors. 2) If you're like me, your team (in my case, Pittsburgh ) is possibly already out of the post-season race. 3) Making lists is super-duper fun! So...

... who are your top major league players of all time, by alphabetical listing? Some letters were easy, while others (notably 'R' and 'M' for me) were tougher, and some players only made it because that letter is weakly represented. Here's mine (without any reasons, I'll wait a bit for that).

No, can't do that... you gotta choose! You'd have to decide that Yogi OR George are a better choice than Barry Bonds (and as a frustrated Pirates fan, I'll listen to such arguments openly ).

My toughests were 'R' (Ruth won out over Frank Robinson, Jackie Robinson, Cal Ripken Jr., and Nolan Ryan) and 'M' (Mays edged Mickey Mantle, Mark McGwire, and Manny Mota ).

    Re: Baseball ABC

Since there's been little interest in this thread (at least not as much as the Football ABC one), I'll try that "bias" concept that had been mentioned elsewhere, and put whom I like, not whom "should" be there, or desrves it.
