This happened around 11:45pm on Sunday night. I was at work when I saw it come down on the AP wires. Very sad that he died from lung cancer, I wish people would learn from this not to smoke or ever start.

It's horrible, I've had a grandfather die from lung cancer before I was born, lost an uncle to it when I was 8 or 9, and my dad has been smoking for close to 30 years....I dont want to lose him to it one day.

Peter Jennings is dead..
Turned on the TV only to find a Special Report about Peter Jenning's death.. I always thought that he was going to pull through too.
He was a great person- may he rest in peace.

I did like Peter's reporting and calm demeanor on the news....he will be missed....

I always prefered Peter Jennings & ABC World News Tonight. He did have a calm, but clever sophistication to his reporting. My mother had a crush on him, and my dad would always let her know that the news was beginning when he would say, "Honey, your boyfriend is on . . . " It's hard to believe but we lose all three major network anchors (first Brokaw, and then Rather and now Jennings) within a year, after they stayed on the air for almost twenty years. Peter, rest in peace--you will be missed.

I was shocked to see it, publically it feels like just yesterday that he announced he was sick. Jennings was a good anchor, and his appearances on The Daily Show were pretty funny too, it's always cool to see these guys who have to be so stiff on the news actually be with it. His death is sad news indeed.
