Tommy, close your eyes.
You people have no taste and consequently suck.

Tommy, close your eyes.
I never got into Zappa, my friend loves him and I heard a few songs, nothing I can recall off the top of my head as it was over 6 years ago. Sorry.

Please tell me you're joking.
Tommy, close your eyes.
Yeah, I'm joking. I've never actually heard his music, but I know he's got kids named Dweezil, Moon Unit, and Ahmet.

I'd tell you what genre, but I think he recorded in every imaginable genre at one point or another. I once read that he made over 60 albums, if you include his "official bootleg" albums.
His sound is, for the most part, an acquired taste. But it definitely grows on you.
If you're the downloading sort, I'd recommend these ten tracks:
Peaches en Regalia
Dumb All Over (the live version referenced above; the studio version is bland)
My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama
Valley Girl (dated, but still damned funny)
Muffin Man
San Ber'dino
Montana
Catholic Girls
Trouble Everyday
G-Spot Tornado (can I say that? Look for one of the orchestral versions over the synth version)
If you're not easily offended, also check out Bobby Brown Goes Down, Dinah-Moe Hum, and T***ies 'n Beer.
