Figrin Bran is not yet sure if he can make it, but if he can he's a "Yes" on White Bantha, and wanted to know if we were doing ONLY Star Wars, to which I couldn't really say. I think most of us are also into Transformers as well, but I don't want to speak for everybody. I know my White Elephant is a Star Wars though ("a Star Wars" as a phrase always reminds me of Marge Simpson, as in "I'm a Star Wars!").

Well, there's different versions. In one, you go down into a cellar, and the gun has just one bullet, so you-

One version is just a simple exchange, no order involved, as long as you get a different gift than you arrived with (usually still wrapped or in a gift bag).
Another gives you a certain number (often no more than 2) of times where you can "steal" another person's gift (either in unopened boxes/bags guessing at what's the "cool" prize, or knowing what the item is and trade yours for it); by the end, you're stuck with whatever's left.
You can assign each bag/box a number, then someone picks a number to start and you go to the right or left from then.
I'd go with a simple put 'em on a table, you pick one that's not what you brung.

I'm stuck on which to bring: my dented Wal*Mart damaged E1 Chancellor Valorum with missing staff, or my 12-back 96%-graded vinyl cape Jawa. :decisions:

The way we played is we'd pick a number to assign order and then whoever was number 1 went first, picked a gift and got to open it. We all enjoy what the item is... of course, number 2 then gets to pick and if they don't like what they opened, they get to steal number 1's gift. Then number 3 gets to pick, and if they don't like what they got, they can exchange it for either 1 or 2's gift... and so on. So that the last person really gets their pick of the litter. And then, afterwards, you can try and trade with other people who might be willing to exchange for your item. In the end, the process is more fun than the actual gifting, which isn't the point anyway.

I've never done one of these, sounds like there's not a lot of variation between them though so between the ideas I think can piece together a groundwork: "hidden" gifts (opaque shopping bag is fine), someone randomly chosen to start the picking, then round the table for the stealing and trading twice through.

My Bond 50 bluray box set arrived from amazon today. Woohoo! Since i grabbed Skyfall on tues, I now have all 23 Bond flicks. Amazon has a good sale on those 2 items this week if anyone's interested. Tax refund coming soon, guess i bought my treats early ha. No regrets. The prices will not go any lower & if they do, it'll be a very long time.

Sorry to hear you might have been able to make it and now can't, since originally you just couldn't make it at all. Have fun at the University of Spoiled Children.

How much did you cough up for Skyfall? I forgot it came out, thought it was next week, so I probably missed the best choices.

Skyfall was 19.99 at bestbuy w/o tax. Amazon & target, same price. There's still time. But i wouldn't wait too long, as i dont think it'll go on sale anytime soon after now.

I might not even make the USC thing - depends how i feel. (since JT was tryin to call me out )

I've got something SW-related. Was going to just dredge out an extra old Clonetrooper I got when they didn't disgust me yet, but I found something new that will probably have more universal appeal.

I was sort of hoping everyone else brought Dollar General and Marshalls Cobra Trooper figures, though.

I also accept GI Joe figures. This exchange could turn out to be really fun. Should we make reservations? I can't imagine much of a crowd for a Sunday at 3.

Truth be told, I was hoping to find a motherlode (or is it motherload? either one makes sense) of Marshalls Joes before Sunday. It does not look promising, though. The only ones I found were two (Duke and Snake Eyes) in Palm Desert, where I can't go very often anymore because of the price of gas vs the general value of the trip, but where there don't seem to be many collectors and I've had incredible luck with Joes... and, even then, I suspect I found them because they were on a random peg in the men's underwear section for some reason.

Comic Con Registration was another disaster. I think they want to make it a professional trade show only? A conspiracy?

Everyone I know has problems.

Before 9am I was on the landing page

Before 9 am I was pushing the green button.

At 9am the green button push worked and then I got a systems error page after it struggled to load. (I have a fast computer with no problems)

I back-paged and tried again with the same error.

Then I shut all pages and turned off my internet, re-engaged it and followed the link from my e-mail again.

The landing page admitted me to a screen that said the waiting room was full and all badges were probably sold out.

This must be an error on their part. This was 9:02 am.

At 9:10 another attempt on a different computer yeilded the same results.

I'm still online at their "full capacity waiting room," seeing what happens.

In 3 1/2 I have interviews at my writers conference down the street and I will remain at the conference site.

I'm probably not going to get tickets for Comic Con today at the very least.
